Title: Im new to this site and have a question
Post by: FD3S Efini on March 03, 2009, 01:25:28 PM
hi there im kris,

iv had an RX-7 since new year and i love it apart from needing a rebuild (D\'oh) but i want to ask which tires you would reccomend for normal road use on the original alloys, i have goodyear on there on the moment but which is better good year or bridgestone? Also one other thing is i want to paint my callipers and wanted to know how easy it is to remove and replace?

Cheers for your help

Hia matey, Painting the calipers I wouldn\'t wory about taking them off or you will have to bleed the brakes again!! just clean them up & paint them in situe.... alot easyer! Also, tyres: I\'ve got a set of Bridgestone potenzas G111 (That\'s G3) on the front & must say, they are very hard waring & they grip like hell!! not a hint of understear on wet round abouts @40mph even when I mes about by jurking the wheel to see how much grip is left!!

Jono

Ive got Falken ZE512s on 17" alloys which I hate!!

thats not too bad, i found a bloke that will do an engine rebuild for £1800 base price if rotors and housings are gd but if not the housings can get refaced so that its bout 2000 and he also does silicone piping and stuff like that for a lil extra, he sounds like a good bloke aswell had a full blown convo with him and he knows what he is on about

well if he has a name, or company, here is the place to ask about it as there are a vast number of owners who have had rebuilds on this forum.

i currently have falkens on mine, and are good tyres but next time round i might try the toyo t1r\'s as they are always highly recommended, had them on the mrs\'s colt ages ago and seemed very good although the car didnt really go fast enough or handle well enough to test them out properly lol

Toyo proxes.  I\'ve found them very hard wearing, and they feel great on the road.

Im running Goodyear Eagle F1s on my FC, never had a problem, they grip really well in the wet and dry, check out camskill for prices:

Sounds very familiar!

You on FDUK? PM me ("rjpartri") if you have any questions about the guy, or want demos of his work, examples of prices etc. Don\'t have PM functionality on here!!

Oh, on topic, mine\'s running on Michelin Pilot P1s. Seem to be the mutts nutts to me!

Same as above he has built two engines for me obviously on different cars, and he is superb, very personal service and also a lot of attention to detail, like everything being colour coded, such as cable ties and pipe work. PM me for details

I run Pirelli P6000\'s on the standard 16 inch wheels in the winter and Bridgestone Potenza\'s on the 18\'s for the summer, never had a problem with either to be honest, although the car handle\'s sooo much better on the 18\'s :D

I found toyo t1r\'s terrible on my integra and i know of a few guys that demolished them on single sessions on track so have reserved feelings about them. Oddly enough they seem to get excellent reviews on here and fduk so maybe they are better suited to rwd
