Title: Sealing AN fittings
Post by: SiH on March 01, 2009, 11:26:04 AM
My car\'s booked in for mapping in a few days, but I\'m having a nightmare sealing the AN fitting to my FPR (Aeromotive A1000 -6).
For the input on the FPR, I\'ve got braid with an aeroquip fitting to a M>M adaptor, then the adaptor is screwed into the FPR.

For the output I have an M to M adaptor going to a right angled barb fitting for the hose.
As far as I can tell (and it\'s hard to be sure!) it\'s leaking from the union on the input side somewhere. I\'ve removed it, taped it, replaced, removed, taped, tightened, loosened, and it\'s still doing it.

Anyone got any hints? :(
How tight should I be doing up the unions?
Is just PTFE on the adaptor > FPr enough, or do i need an O-ring there?
TIA
Si

Have you got any pictures of the join. The Aeromotive FPR needs an o-ring between the adapter and FPR.

You shouldn\'t need to use any tape on the taper pick up between the 38deg taper pick up.

Yup, that\'s what I\'ve literally just been told by someone else - cheers dude :)
I now need to find somewhere that stocks the o-rings - hoping that Halfords do ones that are fuel safe!

I gigured i shouldn\'t need anything on the taper, as that\'s the point of the taper!

Go to a local motor factors and they should have either that or a copper washer that will seal the join to at least get you through the tuning ! Take the adapter along and they should be happy to help !

Would an o-ring be better than a copper washer?

Viton O-ring best but a copper washer will do for a fix till you get your hands on an o-ring.
