Title: been a busy week
Post by: leeincivic on February 28, 2009, 12:21:30 PM
holla!!! came up with the idea of doing some work on my car last week and i am now glad its all over!!! it was one of them that i wish i never started,

firstly i fitted the water/meth injection that i bought a few months back and i am glad that i managed to get it all hidden, cheers again mattfduk for the uk spec rear washer bottle:god anyways here are some pics that i got while on me ciggy breaks!! haha

this is the bottle i got and its surprisin how much it holds!!!

i then mounted the pump behind the rear panel where the toolkit usually sits (toolkit for sale if anyone wants it?) and routed all the wiring and plastic tubing through the car all neat and discreet :) also put in a switch by my battery so i dont always have it on (blue switch on the side)

then mounted the nozzle in a small straight silicone piece just before the intake elbow using devils own adapter, good bit of kit and saves getting a olet welded onto any pipe,

ALL DONE :driving

then i came up with the idea of painting my engine bay, the car was originally red and now that the car is white it let it down loads when the bonnet was up,

anyways i started off with this mess

then after alot of removing, masking, papering, degreasing, drying, de-masking and then replacing i ended up with this:mmmm

am made up with how it turned out and totally changes the look of the bay!

let me know ya thoughts fellas

ps word to the wise, i know i painted it but if i had the chance to pay someone i would!! its a ballache!! haha

Jono

yeah well i tried spraying with a can only and used hammerite smooth which looked rubbish tbh, so what i ended up doing is painting it with a brush with hammerite smooth and then rattle can of satin black over the top,

Lee, whats the water injection like? Has it dropped temps much? Did you get the controller with it? I say you had asked a question about the kit on his ebay page, what size jet are you using? Was gonna order one tomorrow.

i have gone total bare arse mate so dont have a rear washer anymore, ya can still use the meth to wash your windows anyways coz the blue screenwash you can buy anywhere supposedly is a 30-40% meth mix anyway from what i have read

i tried it for the first time today but realised that i forgot to purge the water through so it spluttered a bit as water reached the nozzle, gonna purge it tomoz tho so all should be good:Laugh never bothered with the controller i have gone with the stage 1 kit, only for the fact i bought it off my mate and got for good moneys!! lol i have got a 3gph nozzle fitted at the min but will see what its like when i start using it more and that

this is the kit i got for anyone interested http://www.alcohol-injection.com/water-injection-kits-1/universal-19/universal-stage-1-8.html

Title: been a busy week
Post by: leeincivic on March 02, 2009, 09:23:16 PM
it was just mega thin and would not coat well even tried the smooth in a rattle can and looked crap aswell!!
Title: been a busy week
Post by: Jono FD3 on March 02, 2009, 10:48:44 PM
yea, the spray hammerite takes a while to bring the colour through.... a good 3 coats to eliminate the colour underneath, so to get a spot on job you would probably be looking at 5-6 coats!
