this is an interesting thread...
wonder what most big power 7\'s use..
Fuchs XTR semi-synthetic 10w-40 for me.
cheap as Castrol GTX or Shell Helix but I change mine every 800 miles because of my porting therefore some fuel gets into the oil
I use Halfords 10/40 mineral, its made by Comma.
Comma XTech 5/30 semi synth
Mineral oil for me :yes
i use silkolene XTR semi syn. 10w40 from opieoils
i use mineral oil in mine
castrol gtx 10/40 here. Its not usually in long enough to justify the extra cost of the silly stuff!!
either halfords 10/40 or castrol gtx.
i thought fully synthetic was a big no no on rotaries??
halfords 10/40 on mine.
Fully synthetic; after reading the other lengthy threads debating the subject till I couldn\'t face it any more!:Hammer
GTX with change every 1.5 -2k or track event.
But if Royal purple was sat next to it on the shelf I would buy it instead.
I think changing the oil regular is the secret any thing contaminating the oil or sludge/condensation is removed incase the filter doesn\'t catch it. It must keep your oil coolers cleaner too. Give the turbos the best help you can.
Paul.
castrol gtx 10/40 for me changed every 1500 to 3000 miles
I use Castrol GTX 10w-40 Mineral oil, £19.99 for 4 LTRS, Bought some yesterday in fact lol.
Change the oil every 2k miles.
I use Millers XML 15/40 Mineral, £18 for 5 litres on ebay, i change the oil every 2000 miles so its pointless buying anything to fancy.

Castrol GTX 10/40 for mine.
Chris
It\'s millers fully synth that I use, good oils at good prices (and supporting the uk economy ;) )
Halfords 10/40 mineral oil
I use Motul 4100 15W50 and I change it every 3k km. It is semi-syn.
Loving the results of this poll :)
Used Havoline Mineral from asda, Halfrauds own mineral or Mazda semi (as used in RX-8?)

Comma also make the cheap wilkinsons oil, I had work experience there when i was 16 and was surprised by how many shops they supplied.
Shell Helix is what Re-Worx put in mine I will get them to change it every 2000 miles. Anyone bought that oil specially designed for Rotaries which one of the Traders advertise? I expect its dear if you change it regularly
I have got it in mine, and must admit the engine sounds much smoother and quiter on idle. but not sure how often it needs changing, im going for 3000 miles
Castrol GTX 10 x 40 ... tell me if I\'m wrong please..................
lol still unsure what to put in lol 430bhp large street port with meth injection?
Quote from: Big Al;635126Castrol GTX 10 x 40 ... tell me if I\'m wrong please..................
Nope, \'cos that\'s what Pip put in mine after rebuild and what I use still!
Used to use semi-syn before until Pip showed / explained what it does to engines over prolonged use!
Shell Helix Plus for the engine / turbo - and Premium Marine TCW3 for the oil injectors. Oil change every 3000 miles or 3 months which ever comes first.
Also do a full \'flush\' every year along with that oil change.

And planet! I got 5l of 10/40 semi from the local motorfactors for £12.60 for my BMW, a little too regularly (oil leak). Had a sticker on the back saying \'filled by comma\'. 10/40 halfords mineral... Bought 10l yesterday - disappointly traders discount card only gets you £4 off a bottle! lol.
This is interesting :) This is on Castrols website and enables you to type in your reg to find out the correct oils & lubricants...

i thought that said Vasoline :D
i use full mineral 10w40 and change oil and filter every month. i used to use castrol gtx or helix but they have some semi synthetic in them and cost like £20+. i pay £9.02+vat for 5Litres from Millers refinery themselves after looking at the bottle in a car shop noticed they charge an extra £15 by stocking it in there shop rather than going direct to the trade counter. last time i went to millers i bought full mineral 10w40 and got 10 letres for 19.04+vat.
Castrol GTX 10/40 as advised by Hayward Rotary every 2000 miles
