Title: 1sgt gen S3 popup headlight query
Post by: Archbish on February 22, 2009, 07:52:51 PM
Soooooo as part of the rewiring of the car, I am trying to get to the bottom of the popup motor headlight wiring.

I *think* the headlight switch has a power feed from it that is constantly live when the dipped or full beams are turned on.

This positive feed goes to the headlight retractor switch, which also has another feed from the battery.

Depending on the position of the retractor switch, the feed from it is normally for the \'down\' feed of the popup motor.  When you turn the headlights on, this feed changes to the \'up\' feed of the popup motor.

NOW, this is the bit I\'m a bit confused by is (a) I can only find one switch in my pile of switches that fits in the hole for the switch and (b) that switch has SIX sires into it.

Is this the switch?  If so, why Six wires?  If not, what the hell is it for?

If you\'ve followed this, then well done *grin* and any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

OJ

Showing 7 connections on my Haynes diagram. Problem is the Haynes covers UK/USA cars and 3 million models in 1 book!
Connections Are Supposedly:-
2 No. in from 2 of the fusible links.
3 No. out to Retractable Headlight Switch, Instrument Panel Light Control, Head Light Washer Motor (last one also taps in to one of the outputs of Retractor Switch).
2 No. out to Headlights, Main and Dipped Circuits.
