i\'m doing a TII brake conversion on my gen1 and i was sand blasting them yesterday when i noticed the pad pins i have are different in each caliper (a earlier and later caliper?) one caliper has holes in the pins about 5mm down from the head of the pin and standard clips, the other has holes in the end of the pins and one large clip to hold them in, question is can i get 2 new pins with the holes in the end as the kit i am looking at comew with the new larger clip....... god i hope that makes sense!
the first picture show the incorect pins, they are not even long enough to drill the ends to put the larger clip into
second show the \'correct\' pins with normal clips in (so i dont loose them!) but will have the larger clip in
thanks
Mark
Interesting? The stock pins are the ones with the pin holes in the tapered end, a single large clip (the ones in the top of your parts pic) is then threaded into each pin once the pads are in place.
Hope that makes sense :wave
edit: You will see the small opening in the calliper body for the centre part of the pin to hook into
thought they were the standard, i have found pins in another kit at rockauto so will go with that
cheers Brett
Mark - where did you get that set of clips from ?
Been searching for something like that for a while.
Me too!!! I need a couple caliper rebuild kits.
I have also come across the pin saga before as in not long enough so not even sure what they were off but totally no good when they that short and no way to lock them in.

Yeh - the caliper rebuild kits are just the rubbers and metal retainer clips - and a new cap for the bleed screw.
You don\'t get pistons - although you should be able to reuse the exisiting ones - and you don\'t get a bleed screw - which is one of the items that can get rounded off.
BigRed Brakes do pistons and rebuild kits for FC\'s, so I shall be getting my rear kits from them - they also seem do bleed screws - but the links for pistons and bleedscrews aren\'t working yet. I don\'t know if they do the spring clips.

Ta muchly !
You are a star :god
is it worth getting a group buy on this?
im in no hurry to order my bits as i still need to paint the calipers will be a big saving on postage
Mark
anyone interester in a group buy on these? want to order them this month
I\'d be interested in pin/spring sets for front and rear calipers - but I\'ve already got my rebuild kits for the rubber parts for front and back now.
Mark - bit off topic - do you still want rear brake disks from a TII to measure up for drilling ? I\'ll be replacing my rotors sometime this week and will have the 2 rear discs available - they are very lipped - so won\'t be usable, but would be fine for use as a template.
will keep you posted then Dave, guess it wouldn\'t hurt to have the rears if thats ok, are you up this way anytime soon? if not i can always make a detor your way, can you PM me your address?
thanks
Mark
