Title: Is my stock ECU O.k.
Post by: johnf on April 07, 2004, 02:08:35 PM
I read all the technical stuff on the forums and to be honest a lot of it goes over my head, but I\'m learning.

My car is as I bought it - Blitz exhaust [with cat] Blitz intake and the engine has been, according to info supplied, street ported currently on 42k, the rebuild and porting carried out within the last 18 months.

The ECU is the original one as fitted to a .98 car. Should I look at uprating it or is it Ok.

I\'m not looking for more performance it\'s just that some of the posts suggest if the ECU aint right it can shorten engine life.

I have no problems with the car that I know of.

If you have a stock ECU, then you are on the cliff edge!

Take the cover off the passenger footwell and see what make is fitted.
