Title: Hello from Mr Stupid!
Post by: Bobbit on February 16, 2009, 07:34:01 PM
Hello,
after a hard day at work where my brain died a little I got home and with good intentions in mind I started to fill my screen wash, well I though it was but after literally 2 sec realised it was the rad top up point, so quickly swore (alot) and then filled up the correct bit.
Now I am worried about the screen wash in my rad, I will do a flush of the system on wed as i\'m off but will i be ok to drive slowly and carefully tomorrow?
Thanks

Rob

It could get bubbly :Giggle - I guess it depends how much you put in and how dilute it was.

it was about 15-20% mix and it was a basically 2 sec worth of pouring from the plastic bottle the screen wash came in.

Ha ha! Dopey!:Giggle I wouldn\'t worry about it that much man. But it takes all of 30 mins to flush and fill the rad so you\'d be as well when you have the time and cash. Just for piece of mind

are you talking about the plastic filler behind the headlight?  (expansion tank E/T) if so, just pull the small black rubber hose that goes from the AST to the E/T, that way the engine wont suck any of the soapy water back in. (thats the only way for the water to get into the engine).  Then empty the E/T, wash it through and put the rubber hose back.  The water wont get into your engine until your engine cools and sucks the water from the E/T.

Is the exhaust blowing bubbles, if so I bet they are monsters!!! Sorry, I do find it difficult to be serious at times(all the time actually, its probably why I\'m called Mad Bob locally-though that maybe something to do with my temper, ahem)!!! Seriously though, your coolant has ethylene glycol in it and the alcohol in it will have done for the screenwash in fairly short order, I wouldn\'t worry about it.Bob.(ps,is the widge ok now the weather is a bit warmer)?BM.

Much better thanks bud, the very end is still a bit numb but I suppose she benefits from that more than me.
