Title: FD ECU Advice please!
Post by: rxangus on April 07, 2004, 07:49:50 AM
Hi All,

Will try to be brief....

I\'m off to WGT in a few weeks for boost fix/service etc. Last time car was there Pip removed the cat as it was knackered. I was considering getting another one fitted but wondered if an Apexi PFC with commander is a more sensible use of cash albeit say £1k fitted for PFC versus £400 for new cat.

Car is fuel cutting occasionally as it stands.

96 RB with induction kit, Jasma Quiet exhaust, no cat

Any idea how much HP increase over standard 265 I could expect with the above plus Apexi?

Would I need to do anything else upgrade wise if I change the ECU?

Thanks a lot......

Angus

PS Is the Apexi easy to learn (or a nightmare??)

Angus, I\'m expecting around 300bhp (fly) from Bobs once he gets the exhaust sorted out and mapped at 0.8bar.  Nothing else is needed for the ECU, just plug and play.

As far as learning it - All you need to do is get Pip to set it up for you when it is on your car, and show you how to alter the fueling to get through MOTS, other than that it shouldn\'t need to be touched unless you add more mods.

When my cat goes it will be power FC and commander all the way for me - assuming I don\'t need a new engine first!

In japan they run a cat and use the apexi FC the power, the  increase you get will depend on the map that is put in to the ECU.
Also if the boost is raised it will make a big difference.
Would get the apexi mapped on rollers by some one who has had experiance with them as can cause some damage if not done that well.
