Hi People,
I\'m considering making up some jigs for EGI headers and exhausts. Turbo II cat backs.
Just wondering if people here would be intrested and what they would be intrested in. My thoughts on options i could make available
for TII
single exit cat back - typical Jap style
Tiwn rear muffler like the stock set up
optional centre silencer for both
For EGI
True dual system like on our PPort EGI
2 into 1 headers
silenced or unsilenced mid box
single exit rear section Jap style
twin exit rear section like stock
Any thoughts on what you would like? For this time price is erelivent just intrested in what poeple would like on their cars.
Cheers
A few side exit options would be cool ;)
i think the 2 - 1 header for an egi is likely to be the biggest seller :D
other than that, im good for exhausts atm :D
i think a GOOD price on a main centre decat would be superb :D
OR - what about a 1 peice turbo back to Y piece for the TII - this could be used on the UK cars to remove both cats in one swap !! ( and welding in the bung ready for the wideband would be good aswell )
True dual system for Egi would be cool with twin exit pipes stockish looks say "3 or less diameter tailpipes.
I think if someone was able to make a OEM downpipe and decat pipe for the UK turbo II it would be fab lol :) twin system for the Turbo II would be good :)
mitch - thats what i was getting at - but a one piece section - saves on gaskets and bolts etc...
althought just a centre decat would be nice at the mo :D
OK well i see the twin exits seems to be more popular than big single. I have something "semi jigged" for that anyway after doing the Dual system.
The one peice UK down pipe/decat seems like a good idea.
If i do a one peice down pipe/decat the preference be with of with out a centre silencer?
My suggestion would be to do a DCAT down pipe for the TII that is the same length as the stock down pipe and capable of matching up with the stock flanges, that way people can add it to a stock car etc. (Same would apply to any Y piece, centre DCAT & rear box(es)
:wave
i cant think how many peices are in the stock pipe
does the downpipe connect to another pipe before the centre decat ??
right then - been having a dig around - and found a pic of a TII exhaust
(http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=27743&d=1171807122)
this is whats left - but still leaving the down pipe one the car ( its a pain to remove )
so it would be nice to have
1 - down pipe to cat ( 1 piece instead of 2 )
2 - a cat replacement
3 - incorporate 1 and 2 into a nice one peice system to the Y pipe
you will notice that they back boxes are welded to the Y pipe - this is cause its a power flow system - usually the back boxes are bolted on
not sure where this post is going - i just like posting random pics :D
and looking at it - No 2 should be easy - it looks like a straight pipe with 2 flanges welded on ???
Agree with the one piece downpipe and a removeable cat section. The rear Y section does need to have the Y as a section and then the two rear boxes seperate. The problem you will have is getting a courior to post that rear section if it was all one piece. It also allows you to \'tweak\' the position of the boxes if you have an after market rear bumper to get the tail pipe positions bang on as they usually want to go a bit lower.
Hats off for getting this starting as you only have to read the posts on this and see what people are crying out for but there is so little around for a decent price.
What is quite good to keep the noise down as a 3" throughout might not be everyones cup of tea is to run 3" from header/turbo back and then you can restrict from the Y pipe exit to 2 1/2" bore or give people the option. You will be surprised at the difference it makes to noise.
My next question then for you guys is:
Does anyone have a COMPLETE stock system from turbo back?
I have an EGI one here that i removed from mine.
quick answer - no
BUT
i do have a stock cat ( centre one under seats ) and the down pipe cat in the garage
you being 4 million miles away doesnt help !

If i can\'t find a whole system i can arrange collection via courier so thats not an issue.
thats no probs to be honest :D
im sure pete must have a full exhaust somewhere - or Adrain ( tiddles ?? ) he has a spare TII - but not sure how much of the exhaust is left on it ?
I have a full stock system! I can take measurements from (UK TII, I will be reusing it though so cant let it go!)
Do I get a Brucey bonus? :Giggle
I\'ve sent at least 3 to the scrap yard :p
Sorry i only have stock cats, no other bits but shame you could not copy the 3" exhaust on my car (twins) but its just timing etc, might be able to work something out though.
I\'ve got the down pipe/expantion chamber the Y piece and two rear cans. Stu/Grinder you have the CAT from this system. The two rear cans have been cut off but its all still there as such. If its any good to you then you can have it to make a jig from. I could do with the rear cans back though as I was gonna Ebay them at some point (no rush though).
from what i can see having had alook a guys FC over the weekend the from the Y section back are the same on the EGI as they are in the TII aside from diameter.
So if i can arrange a for a TII downpipe back to the y section i would be greatfull and we can then get one mocked up and have alook where we are.
Am I right in thinking that the exhaust is in 4 pieces. Down pipe, CAT, Y section then the rear boxes. If so then You can have my down pipe and CAT (as long as I can get it back of Grinder). Its just getting it to you as I\'m oop north and its a bit of a trek to you guys!

I\'d get a our courior to pick it up and bring it to us. Much easier that way. Yeah i need the down pipe back to the Y section.
actually its 5 peices i think
1 - down pipe
2 - a bit between this and the cat
3 - cat
4 - Y pipe
5 - back boxes
i have ade\'s centre cat and i have a stock down pipe aswell - so if you can get a courier for these - thats 2 peices sorted out ( i will just need them back at some point - but im happy to pay if you will make me a centre decat pipe )
Stu
Ah I don\'t think I have the piece between the down pipe and the CAT :(
i know that i dont :(
i suppose its how you are gonna make a jog for all this ??
is the plan to just bolt it all together on a bench and copy it ?
Quote from: grinder;584786i know that i dont :(

To a degree yes. mainly for hanger/flange position. Then CAD input flow analyzed between stock & my design. Build it test it.
ah right - if thats the case then - you will need all the parts :(
Quote from: grinder;584835ah right - if thats the case then - you will need all the parts :(
As i said before the pipe layout is the same y-piece back so its just the diameter that changes. I have the details on that so its just the down pipe to the y-pipe i need as before i can model them.
if thats the case - then the only peice you are missing is the bit from the down pipe to the cat
if you look at the pic i posted - its the first piece on the right hand side of the pic
i suppose if you can mock it up on a car ( somehow ) then you could work out the lengh/angle of the pipe you need
OR
you make the 3 peices into 1 to save hassle ( and thus giving the UK owners a chance to remove both cats in one hit )
I\'ll go and double check at my other car and make sure I don\'t have that piece. I can\'t recall ever seeing it but you never know it might have been under something in the boot!
Cheers guys. Tiddles if you cuold have a look and let me know i\'d be greatful. Then i can do a round up of who has what and get this on the go.
I\'d be up for the true dual exhaust for the EGi... sounds fun :D
I think that if you are going to do this then its worth the downpipe being one single piece. Might be worth checking just how many have a pre-cat anyway and if they have why have they not got rid of it yet?? Mine ran through the MOT without it but I did have a 2nd cat. The next year It went totally catless and still passed. The 2nd cat position is easier to make as both though, virtually a straight pipe. Most people go for these exhausts because they want to get rid of the cats!!
thats what i said pete - and if you have the tools - its only one peice of pipe with 2 flanges on it - dead easy eh !!
How long will this kit take to be fabricated? I will be looking at getting a turbo back twin 3" system soonish, what kind of price are you guys thinking?

i like the one in the first link - bit pricey though with the weak ££
but looks like they have made the down pipe and next pipe into one - very good idea to be honest

Any updates on this yet, how far off being able to supply thease are you?
I will hopefully be taking my FC to JM Garage this weekend, I think he needs some more parts, my custom but almost stock system will be used to get an idea of what is needed as well, not sure how long it will take, but im sure it will be worth it :D

Still after a mid pipe then :chat
i "could" be - someone has offered me a full system - but its gone a bit quiet on that front
I bid thee... RIIIIISE!!! thread ressurection, any news on these systems...?
If he\'s not got anything sorted, I\'d be willing to drive down and he can get my car on a ramp and do it there and then. For a decent discount ;)
he\'s done a couple since this thread, think one was adam fc? cant remember who it was on here he did (for egi) and he\'s done m1tch TII system.
best to call him as they all custom made and he can give you a price and time. (his place is where you dropped off the door i got from you skifledanabit)
