Title: Oil metering pump lines installation question and a little problem...
Post by: Jim_rx7 on February 07, 2009, 02:37:22 PM
First of all the question...

Does the line that goes to the rear housing connect to the bottom of the oil metering pump? It looks like it does due to the length compared with the other line?

Now for the problem...

The rear housing line has somehow snapped from the connector. There is still a little clip holding the remains onto it at the moment (see below pics).

What\'s the best plan of action? Will that clip come off easily enough? Also, what are those clips called and where can I get one from?

Argh! I don\'t like setbacks!! lol

EDIT -

So I got the little clip off, but I can\'t get the hose over the connector because it\'s so hard. Safe enough to heat it up a little and see if that softens up the plastic so I can get it over?

Ok.. think I\'m going to see about making my own as I\'ve been reading over on Rx7club.

Just need to know now which line connects to where on the OMP.

Rear housing line goes to??  (top or bottom connector on OMP?)
Front housing line goes to?? (top or bottom connector on OMP?)

The only hosing I could find with a small enough diameter was fuel hose for diesel injector leak off.

Would this be ok for oil to run through it?? It seems to fit ok.

thanks in advance!

Just buy new oil lines from mazda. They come ready to fit straight on with no messing. Fuel hose is no good, it will rot away. You need proper oil resistant tubing, and it needs to be able to hold high pressure. By the time you\'ve found something to fit the job, and get it at your house, and finished messing trying to get it to fit, you could have got the proper thing from mazda and be done with it. This is something that you need working 100% because it means a very expensive rebuild again if these go wrong! Better still, delete the oil pump and use premix

After a bit of hunting around the hose that I\'ve got is supposedley good for use with petrol, diesel and oil?

Can also cope with 150psi (10bar).
