Can anyone suggest what fuel consumption I should be expecting from a moderately driven (at the moment at least), healthy Series 2?....I wasn\'t expecting great things in this department, but my car has a broken exhaust, and is running like a bag of poo at the moment....I\'m hoping my 19mpg is the result of that! :2eek
You may get a few miles more but not very much. I swapped over to an electric fan to try and get better mpg when I first got the FB.
The 13b see\'s between 3.5-4 miles per litre on lpg !

Around 20mpg is going to be the realistic average. You will see more if you remove the emmissions control gubbins and fit a free flow exhaust. (2 into 1 headers make a big difference)
Hmmm....Good job petrol\'s as cheap as chips at the moment innit?
Mind you, have you SEEN the price of chips lately? :D
As long as you are talking about a non turbo engine you can run low octane fuel.
You don\'t need super unleaded or anything like that.

Carl
24 mpg on fine days/medium trips. Drops to 19 mpg in cold and rain.
Carl, I do use Premium Unleaded for two reasons:-
Firstly I\'m convinced it runs smoother and is happier. Call me psychologically challenged if you like, but our car\'s got a name, so it gets the best.
Secondly, I put Millers premix in the tank and that is supposed to drop the octane rating a bit.
Baz, No problem either way, as Carl, the 12A is designed to run on low octane fuel.
Well the 12A non turbo at any rate.
24mpg just with my 13B engine swap/holley650 at 120km/h. In urban traffic or in the hill, it will be lower. The 12A, in every car I had, just 17/18mpg in a combined travel.
