"Ladies and JellySpoons!
The moment you have all been waiting for.. the event of 2009! (Well so far anyway)
Yep you have guessed it.. another infamous MissBanzai Tunnel Run!

Date: Saturday 28th Feb
Time: 8:30pm - aiming to get cars on the road by 9:30pm
Meeting point: Thurrock Services
J30/31 M25
Arterial Road
West Thurrock
Grays
RM16 3BG

Price per map: £4 min all money going to charity

The Charity details:
The Myositis Support Group is a UK charity providing advice and support to sufferers of Dermatomyositis, Polymyositis, Inclusion Body Myositis and Juvenile Dermatomyositis and their families. The MSG also funds and promotes medical research that improves diagnosis, treatment, management and understanding of these diseases.
Charity Registration No 327791

Please take the time to go to...
http://www.justgiving.com/missbanzaitunnelrun
and register your donation which will qualify your car to enter the Tunnel Run and give you a map for the route..

Quick notes...
If you have never done a tunnel run before the following is a good thing.
Remember you will be following typed instructions, with possibly a few sat .... locations and a few pics of maps.
We cannot supply map books to everyone, so a map book of London of your own would be a really useful thing to have in the car.
Also a co-pilot is rather vital.. you will be driving round London on a Saturday night so someone to read you directions and point out road names helps loads!
Walkie Talkies.. these are not only really handy, but really good fun as well.
SimonAirHeadz is the man to speak to with regards to what type you need.

If you have never done a Tunnel Run before, the aim of the night is to drive round London taking in as many tunnels as possible, and making as much noise as possible whilst going through them

We must note that the Tunnel Run is NOT a race, and MissBanzai do not condone any unsafe or dangerous driving.

Please cut and paste this on any other forums that you may be a member of as all clubs are welcome.

And don\'t forget.. it is in Feb, the weather will be pants cold/wet/snow etc.. This is not our fault, as much as the MissB staff like to think they are god like, we can’t do everything

See you there!!!!"

so theres a few rex\'s already, we gonna turn up in force ?? :3gears-rh

Shame really as my navigational skills are pretty good.

I\'m in London now so cant really be bothered going to pick up one of the RX-7\'s to drive.

Remember the first 2006 Tunnel run, what an awesome day.

Hi Guys,

Would you recomend this as a first meet for a complete noob? Liking the idea to taking the rex through all those tunnels!

Why not :)

One thing I would say, if you\'re not familiar with the route they are using, is to tag on to someone who does know the way - as getting lost is no fun on one of these runs.  But one most of the runs I\'ve been on there has been someone who\'s not done one before or who has just got into jap metal for the first time.

Definatly!! We need to make the propper entrance!!

But where would be a good place to meet? I\'m wondering if Bluewater would be good, as its easy to find and only a short hop to the services?

I think you get the maps when you arrive if you paid in advance, although from reading up it sounds like they\'ve all gone. I guess if enough cars go it should be easy enough just to follow someone (Unless they decide to go home lol)

Well iirc it started from Ace Cafe last time so maybe meet somewhere near there? Then make our way to the services?
Either that or Redbridge... which is where the rx7s started from last time to make their way to Ace Cafe

IIRC I signed on reasonably early... Maybe a set of GPS locations will suffice... log them all into a sat nav and chocks away

EDIT: just read on the website you don\'t get the maps until the night

was an excellent night, was deafened both ways through the blackwall tunnel the only time we made it through in the convoy, was like driving through fog with the fumes from the redlining skylines, evos, celicas and rex\'s, managed to meet one guy from here in the car park... the route through town wasn\'t very well thought up though, by the time we hit elephant and castle the convoy was all but scattered to all points of the compass.

managed to fight my way through to old street via bank, over london bridge and rotherhithe and onto greenwich and the dome... good night had by all... especially the lost ones... may still be stuck ina ring road around kingsway now! cheers to everyone at Miss Banzai and i hope there was a lot of money amde for the cause!

I went and really enjoyed it, especially the initial meet, I\'ve never seen so many jap cars in one place! Did spot a few other RX\'s but didn\'t see any owners to have a chat.

Once on the run we seem to have lost everyone by the blackwell tunnel, i don\'t think the lights that let 2 cars a time thru helped really with the convoy! We called it a night soon after but still had a great time, we took a few photos which i\'ll try and upload later...

well, i had to guide our little convoy (the one in the vid above) when we came out of the blackwall tunnel, but the lights just split us right up, which was a shame, i was just about to appear in the vid when it fades out and says lost... dammit!!!

yours wasnt a black one was it ? i saw one there which looked like it had a front and back bumper resprayed?

you rate them fairly well?

the guy i spoke to was really helpful! maybe you can sort me out some extra discount ;) hehe
Title: london tunnel run 28th feb
Post by: TTMan on March 05, 2009, 06:06:32 PM
nope mines white and got full respray (well something like that!) yeah i rate them, obviously i am going to be biased, but lets just say they REALLY sorted me out for my respray. depends what u want doing on discount, may be possible depending if they do it out of work hours but dunno if they would do that for someone they dont know....let me know what u want doing and ill see if my bro fancies taking on some weekend work for a bit of cash :)

i know a lot of official dealerships like the ford garage up the road in wokingham use them so they must be good, before buying my fd i had a Fiesta ST which had the spoiler ripped off as they are so shoddily put together, that was first one they had in there but now they get multiple STs a week in from Inchcape which have had various panels repeatedly nicked. Keep paying them to rebuild them lol :)
