I have the aquamist hfs5 water injection kit which i am currently looking to fit to the car. Iwas wondering as a percentage what sort of gains would i see if i tuned with this using a 50/50 water/methanol mix. ideally i need to uprate my primary injectors and fit a 3 bar map sensor, but with the current exchange rate this is proving very expensive. im just wondering whether to do this now or just fit the water injection and leave it at that for now
Thanks
Lee
lee you wont see big hike in power by just fitting it, water injection will make the charge cooler, which in turn will give you a bit more power and also will allow you to run a bit more boost. Also by running cooler with water injection you are less likely to get detonation
It makes me laugh on games like need for speed where fitting a intercooler automatically gives you 50bhp, my mate thinks in the same way, if i stick a front mount on there i will get a extra 50bhp, i had to explain to him that by just fitting it on there you wont get any gains, a better intercooler will allow you to do other things to get power gains.
I already know this im just trying to find out what sort of gains you would get. as it stands at the moment im not having any probs with knock(never goes above 23) and i run a big v mount so no probs with temps. the only reason i would be fitting this is to raise the boost. but i was wondering what gains could be found by keeping boost at the same level.
if you map it correctly on the dyno I gained 20bhp at the same boost pressure on the old setup and a lot more torque
Thanks Blitzboy thats all i wanted to know
