Title: 40th Anniversary RX8
Post by: FEED Addict on January 30, 2009, 02:23:50 PM
The Misses went to the local Mazda dealers today to get her MX-5 serviced and MOT\'d (she has not been able to drive for nearly a year). Whilst there she has fallen in love with a 40th anniversary RX8 10 miles on the clock, not registered and up for £18,000, and they are offering her £3,000 for her \'03 type 2 mx5 with 48,000 on the clock. what would you guys do?

Yes it\'s a whitey Phil, haven\'t seen it myself though.
She would be getting a loan, just finished paying off the MX5.
Have suggested to her that she sticks with the MX for now as we have the Saab and RX7 but she is very tempted as they were going for about 24K a while back! And i think she really likes it, she has been at the garage most of the day with her car and has called and texted me so many times about the RX8!

Yeh i know mate i wouldn\'t mind that car in the garage at all, having a busy day at the office today (as i am sure you have noticed with my other post today)so i have been looking at the web 18K seems like a good price to me to! It probably won\'t go any where, will have a talk tonight but now she is able to drive again and is back to work full time she has some spare cash each month and she will only spend it on shoes if she doesn\'t get this car.

i would of thought u can sell the mx5 for a bit more privately?
then go haggle the price of the rx8 down a bit more n buy it if they lower the price :Laugh

looks like many car companies have filled their test tracks with unsold cars (namely nissan) so im sure u can haggle down the price a bit more :cool

though on the other hand, road tax gonna be a killer :(

sell the saab n get the 8 :chat

Sorry BBFC forgot to mention Saab is a freebie company car, don\'t think i could getaway with flogging it! and they wouldn\'t be to happy with the petrol bills either!

How much is the road tax?

MX-5 will be worth more in a few months time due to the weather.  If you want to call me  on 07866 263949 mate, I\'ll look up the Feb 09 book values for you on both cars.

Well the price of a RX-8 with 20k on the clock and a 2005/6 model is approx £7500, for 10k you could maybe get a 2007 so up to you if you want to splash 18k

Hi first off you should be able to get the Anniversay Model for a lot less than 18k seeing as the facelift model is now out so dealers are going to find it even hard to shift the old model.
If you want to see more pics of white RX8s have a look over here (http://www.rx8ownersclub.co.uk/forum/) and have a look in the photos section.
As for the wheels I really like them but I\'m sure if you ask the dealer they\'ll swap them for the standard wheels for you if this means they\'ll make a sale.

I agree with Chris on the price - the 40th Anniversiary edition is about a year old now.

I quite like the wheels - both the anniversary ones and the R3 ones look very similar. They are based on the rotary shape and look cool in the flesh:

£18k is top whack for an RX8.  You can get the originals around £15k with delivery miles.  A 40th Annniversary is a nice bit of kit though.  If you were to take the opportunity to go for the deal then I reckon you\'d get it down to £16k without much trouble.
