Right, i\'ve come to the realisation that the standard intercooler is indeed pants to put it bluntly...
I am running standard\'ish engine with twins, removed the A/C rad and compressor and shortly will be moving the battery out the engine bay. I still have the pre-99 bumper so not as much airflow as the 99 or aftermarket ones but want to keep it.
Can anyone recommend a good FMIC thats not too big or expensive and wont require too much modding to fit round the standard rad?
Cheers
Greddy SMI is really good... you should look into that option too as you could pick one up at a good price

Dunno if rxv8 still has his Trust Standard-mount for sale on this thread here^^, but you could do a lot worse than get one the same/similar. Saves a lot of titting about trying to move everything out the way to fit a front mount, and won\'t bugger up your water temps by impeding airflow to the water radiator either.
Understand what you\'re saying guys about the uprated SMIC, however, if you dont have a good airflow to it , it dont matter how thick it is really, and with the standard bumper you can\'t really get that airflow without ducting which will inevitably block some of the air to the rad..... Bit chicken and egg i know, but surely there must be a "not so thick" front mount out there which wont impede on the airflow that much to the radiator?
Looking at some of the FMIC\'s, they have have a better airflow through them than the a/c radiator that i\'ve removed so can\'t affect temps that much ?
Greddy tripple core is a good fmic, sometimes see them going on ebay,
Get yourself onto e bay, there is a thick greddy SMIC intercooler good for 450 BHP ending today. Think its only £80.

^ That sold cheap!!!
Bugger was out this afternoon for work so missed it.... Still thinking a small front mount would be better..... mmmm dunno
If you had an FC you could upgrade the top mount...not that im biased at all :D
I was running one of those greddy side mounts at 1.2 bar on a ported-single turbo with no problems at all.
Laeeq was running that intercooler when he got 439 whrp at 1.1 bar of boost... and as far as i am aware ran that setup for a long time without problems... ducting is the key and that intercooler is very very good... it is a good option unless you pick up a FMIC for a really good price... but quality ones are generally expensive
Ok after generally looking around and finding pretty much nothing for a sensible price, i\'m after an uprated SMIC, and preferrable one that will fit with the standard air intake box still fitted.....
So open to offers/ideas anyone???
as been said before the Greddy SMIC (Stock Mount Inter Cooler) you are able to keep the standard intake box I belive from looking at the instructions when I had twins all them years ago
Yeah granted but they are extremely rare and expensive which is obviously a downside at the moment.....
Yes Greddy SMIC is V good, although needs custom ducting for ultimate performance.

Custom ducting isn\'t a problem at all, just trying to find one is the main problem lol
We just recently sold one, they come up occasionally, just have to keep em peeled!
Our one went abroad, seems like people are taking advantage of the exchange rates!
I\'m out a lot for work so it\'s not that easy to keep an eye out unfortunately, whenever they come up on here and FDUK they\'ve usually gone by the time i get to see them....
Look at the comment from JukesR.... :Typing :Thumbs-up

Thanks for that mate for some reason i completely forgot about that, have emailed him :)
Havn\'t a few FD guys bought 1 of those XS power side mounts, but mounted them as V mount on here?

Yes but you can\'t have a V mount and keep the standard battery and standard airbox which i want to do. I have modified my airbox and is far better than aftermarket filters would ever be, as it is 100% fresh external air being drawn in :D
You\'d struggle to fit one of those XS Power ones even with aftermarket filters, let alone the stock airbox. Pretty sure the Trust one would fit with a bit of furkling about, it\'s mostly deeper rather than wider. Though it is a bit wider...
