Title: Rotary Corvette Breaks Cover
Post by: noyzboy on January 25, 2009, 03:54:52 PM
More pics of the rotary corvette that saw the sunshine this weekend. I thought that it looked gorgous  and timeless side and rear.
 The front looked rather dated.

Very similar to the design of things like the Pontiac Banshee concept (the \'64 version as well as the more recent ones) and such, very popular sorta shape with the Yanks at one point when they thought they could take on the Italians at their own game. Like yeah, right...

The rotary Corvette had lovely bodywork, though, you could tell it was low-volume stuff by a proper coachbuilder like Pininfarina just because of lovely details like the way the running lights were frenched in absolutely flush to the bodywork, for example. You\'re not going to see that on a mass-produced \'vette bodyshell. I remember reading the article about them (God, a four rotor! Wish they\'d survived) but until chatting to the owner on Saturday I never really realised they were contracted out to the Italian design studio by Chevy. Fascinating stuff
