Title: X over the Y axis to the power of N =?
Post by: Don Pamponi on April 04, 2004, 08:58:18 PM
Hi chaps

my blue 85 gen1 is nearly ready for its MOT, just needs wheels & tyres.  Problem is I dont like the pony standard jobbies it s got (bald tyres all round anyhow), so id like to buy a new groovey set of wheels and tyres.

Here\'s the trick- the cars being built 150 miles away so ive got to choose some wheels+tyres and have them sent up there, only I dont know what offset i need and I\'ve NO idea at all what arcane stuff like PCD means.

I\'m sure its even more comlicated than that even.

All I know is I want 15\'\' with 205/50s or 60s. (is 205 the standard width?)

Can anyone help?

Got any recomendations?

Cheers

15x7" with a 4x114.3mm PCD, 38mm offset and 205/50R15\'s should fit fine (its very tight on the front struts though)

I wouldn\'t think many places will have that size in stock though.

Thanks Mike.

Apparently Clive (who\'s building the car) has got hold of some listings of standard alloy sizes/specs for all differnt production cars.

Gonna see if we can find a match.

Probably be Lada steel wheels, or Proton or something horrid.

Title: skinny fronts

Is there any reason why I couldn\'t fit 6x15s on the front and 7x15s 0n the back?

Thought it might help the heavy steering & be an easier fit.

I don\'t see why not ... you could fit 195/50R15\'s on the front and 205/50R15\'s on the back ... not too much of a difference in diameter.

Did you see my other post about power steering on another one of your threads ? (fitting a Corsa Electric steering column)
