hey everyone, just wondered if anyone knew of any decent single exit exhaust systems for an egi? looking for a single exit with a tip no bigger than 3 inches.
Ive seen plently online in US shops but was hoping someone in the uk might have a system to suit.
Ive allready got a rotecknics header and i know the US have tighter restrictions on emissions so im wondering if they differ to our systems??
Many Thanks Adam
Hello Adam,
Whilst a Racing Beat system would be your best choice from what you say this will be an expensive route to take,
Do a search and find a company that can make a system on the car for you but be warned they must use exhaust back boxes with stuffing inside that can withstand the heat a rotary produces as the temperature is far greater than Piston engines especially with an EGI
To give you an idea of the heat involved, on MK 2 RX-4\'s they had a huge back box and Mazda dealers used to tell owners not to park on grass on a hot dry day after a run or the the grass would catch light !
be warned, if you decide to go the jap can back box route the car will ge very loud, specially with that header, thats the header that requires the baffles to be romved right?
i assume so,i dint have the car with the original header on lol,the only system i could find was an ebay special but its probably got the lifespan of a knat.
also just another one ive bought a genuine mazda oil filter but it appears to be alot smaller than the unipart one allready installed, the seals seem to be just the right size but the capacity is alot smaller?
this rotary business is certainly a learning curve for me lol. thanks
This might be some use to you if you do decide to go single.. I got my front bumper and splitter from these guys.. made an offer about $80 less than buy it now and they accepted. Got to me in 3 days!! Good communication also.

You may find you get what you pay for - non turbos are very hard on the exhausts, get it right you get big increases in peformance, get it wrong it makes a racket and doesn\'t go any faster.

Once you have a good manifold (thermal reactor removed) the engine will be loud without a good quality silencer system. The ones on the attachment have three silencer boxes - no emmissions gear. To get the most from the exhaust it needs to flow well and not be restrictive. If you have a 6 port system, there are some differences in design from US and UK models, US use exhaust back pressure to drive a sleeve valve and UK one engine vacuum to drive butterflies. So if you have a US model or similar you need to take this in to account also.

yeah ive just had an email back from the shopin the us and they said it is compatable but i would be better off with a custom fit exhaust.might as well buy the best first time round. So do the egi\'s run alot hotter in the exhaust than the t2\'s?
They are about as hot it they get. A turbo removes energy from the gas stream and you get a considerable temperature drop.
Rotarys run very hot, you can\'t use normal mufflers that have the glass-pack or simular as they just melt lol go for good quality first time to avoid issues in the future, racing beat make very good systems!
also that oil filter will be fine :D
just had a quote from a custom exhaust specialist, they quoted me £350! just from the silencer back lol anyone heard of corksport stuff?? any idea of the quality?? thanks
