Title: Removing ABS
Post by: lil ben on January 12, 2009, 12:00:08 PM
Hi all,

My ABS unit has been removed but I have a couple of questions.

1) Which line is which from the master cylinder ? (ie front/rear).

2) What sort/size of t piece do I need to split the lines ?

I know it\'s lazy not researching this myself but was hoping someone had already done it and could give me some pointers :Giggle

Couldn\'t find exactly what I wanted in the (US) workshop manual but it appears that ABS was an optional extra on the turbo, no mention of it on the EGI.
That would tie in with the EGI I had having no ABS and the couple of pictures of EGI engine bays I\'ve seen on here didn\'t have it either.
Will check my UK Haynes manual but hopefully I should just be able to use the EGI lines instead of chopping the existing ones about. :Thumbsup!
Anyone breaking an EGI ? :WaveBye

You can get the ABS removal kits from Banzai racing in USA.
The master cylinders are different from turbo to EGI and the servo unit is different as well as the distribution block but it can be done.think the only difference in the master cylinder is the diaphragm/s inside.

I was being pikey and trying to avoid buying kits (although it might work out cheaper and easier in the long run :Giggle ).
Cheers Flatout, anything you find out will be helpful......I\'m finding it a tad confusing. Kinda need all the bits in front of me to work it out as I\'m useless with diagrams :2Confused

If you are getting rid of the ABS wheel sensors then I might be up to having these if you want some cash for them. They are a pig sometimes to get out but they will be no good to you after you disable it.
You should be able to do evrything with what you have but I think there is a difference between the number of outlets on the servos, one will just need blocking off.
