Title: advice pls.... im scared
Post by: fastfu on January 12, 2009, 12:14:45 AM
ive wanted an rx7 for years now but the ....le engine has always scared me as i used to work building engines for landrover and honda i just wouldn\'t know where to start with something without pistons.
im getting on a bit ive decided to face my fear and instead of buying one and wondering when the engine will go i thought i\'d take on a bit of a project and buy one that already needed the engine doing and do it myself, that way i would gain some knowledge on how it all works

how much will a diy rebuild cost ?

any words of advice or encouragement would be great

Someone on here is selling a non runner with all the bits. http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?p=573614#post573614
The engine needs rebuilding.

A diy rebuild will cost at least £400 if you re use all the bits such as apex seals, springs etc, but the average advisable diy rebuild costs about £800-£1000 with all new seals, gaskets,  orignal housings and iron plates. It\'s when you need new/used housings or irons that the price shoots up.
