Hey guys,
I\'m sure some of you knew but for those who didn\'t i have been collecting parts over the past months to fit to my EGI to bring it up to the looks of the TII. Finally got them all and then it was off to Interlopers for a fresh paint job and to have the parts fitted.
This man does not waste any time at all. He started on the car straight away and has been nice enough to take some process pictures for us all.
Enjoy the work so far.. I will post more up as i get them. :)
P.S. - Please excuse the dirt! haha.. It was a long drive..

looks like your well on the way to a good project
love your wheels
an the black bonnet, with the white
the body kit it going to look great
Cheers man! :)
You can\'t see it in the pics but it has the turbo scoop.. which is awesome because the sticker says "NA".. haha. I\'m getting a sticker soon to put under the scoop which will say "Insert Turbo".. haha.
It will look pretty bad ass.
The wheels are sooo nice. Pics don\'t do them justice though.. they look a lot smaller in the pics.
Looks like a decent job is going to be done there :)
that it will bud :Laugh
keep up the pics too
what colours are you going for on the finished car ??
no comments on the roof ? pmsl...
The car is still going to be white in colour.. but i wanted all the new parts to match so it made sense to get a full respray..
The roof... ahhh the roof.. man, don\'t even get me started. Honestly, i think ill end up doing my vinyl idea.. either that or saw the roof off..
wow.. nice collection =)
cant wait to see the outcome.. will look tasty!! =)
looks awesome, i also can\'t wait :D
though have you thought about gettin some strectched tyres on those wheels, think it would improve the look quite a bit
That would look pretty bad ass.. when they are clean and shiney you do kinda look stretched though.. nothing extreme but you can tell they had to be forced on! :) hehe
Looks like your having a lot of fun with your FC mate. Can I ask how much the respray is costing you? Thinking of getting mine done at some point but figured its really expencive.
Just emailed you dude!

oh i see. From the pics because the rims are quite deep dish they don\'t look stretched at all. A closer look reveals all though :D
Some more pics for you guys.. Sadly the TII front bumper doesn\'t fit straight onto an EGI so Craig has had to mod the front splitter to fit onto the EGI bumper.. he is also going to cut away at the grill a bit to try give it a unique look since the TII one wouldn\'t fit (Thanks dude! :) )
The boy is a legend.. hats off to you dude. :)

It should do, People have been hotswapping them for years. The only thing you need to do is remove the S4 Support/Crushbar thingy and directly swap it for one from a series 5 as they are different.
I have been told it should have fit also.. i guess it must be something to do with the crushbar you are talking about.. There is no way i\'ll get one of those in such short notice i would imagine.. but to be honest i really like the idea that Craig has came up with.. wont be many around with the same shape mine will be after he is done with it.
goona look good, good luck with it :)
Thanks man. :)
Benlewismay has got my crush bar, if u can get hold of him lol. I had to take mine out due to the fmic.
Thanks man, but Ben seems to be the hardest person in the world to get a hold of. I\'m not too fussed about it.. as long as the splitter is on i am happy..
Anyone looking for a TII red bumper? hehe..
also with the turbo bumper, when you line up the 3 bolt each side the bumper sits about a inch lower than the wing and bonnet line, plus the plastic vmount shape ducting at the bottom stops the bumper going back far enuff... as iv said i cant see why it wouldnt fit, i even removed all the crash bars n supports n no joy...

I\'ve no doubt you\'ve though of this already but thought i\'d mention if its a case of bolts not lining up with holes would drilling some new holes fix the problem?
It would be good if you take those weather strips of the doors (window seal). Its only one little screw each door and they just pop off. Once you start the screwed end the rest just follows and you should not break anything. I also painted mine satin black as they do either corode or look shabby.
Right, Craig has now taken the grills clean off the bumper and added some support to strengthen it up. He has suggested i add some mesh which i think is an awesome idea! So that is that bit sorted..
Next comes the bit i dredded most.. the sunroof.. Well, its been taken off and is in quite bad condition.. I will need a new seal for a start.. I\'ll let Craig explain the rest of his plans for it though..
I say it everytime i post some more pictures, but i honestly mean it from the bottom of my heart dude.. Thank you so much for all your work! You have no idea how much i appreciate this..
Here are some pics for you guys. Enjoy!

keep the updates coming :)
Me likey likey front bumper! This is going to look SOOO goog when we go to get it!:Thumbsup!
Looking good fella! :cool
Yeeep!, that roof looks like it\'ll be no end of fun and games, even for the mad skills of Mr Loper! Looking good so far, though.
As a side note, what a manly garage is that! Looks like it was hewn straight out of good hard Scottish rock with pickaxes lol :rollin
awesome!!
cant wait to see the finished product :D
Thanks guys. Although there have been no new photos, Craig is still hard at work with it. The sunroof has taken up more time than originally thought... Hopefully there will be some new pictures up at some point next week. Failing that i will take loads when i get her home! :)
is she fully lowered yet? or is craig doing that for you too?
Me and James put new springs on a few weeks back. It\'s meant to be sitting about 35mm lower.. but i think the old springs had sagged so much you barely notice a difference.. I\'m in the process of buying some coilovers though.. So once i get them in i\'ll be slamming the arse off it! :)
Well, to my surprise Craig has posted more pictures up of the car!! I actually can\'t believe the job he has done on tackling the sunroof! I\'m overly excited about this as this was the most embarassing thing about my car.. no matter how good it looked everywhere else people always commented first on the rust on the roof! Craig is a legend.
Enjoy the pics!

Lookin good fella. Craig at this rate your gonna be having a few phone calls regarding FC\'s and painting! Mine being one of the first.
craig: y u live so far away..?!?!
i can do with a paintjob also :Giggle
He is some man isn\'t he?. He doesn\'t live as far as you may think.. Plus surely it would be well worth the drive! OR, You could send him bit by bit of the car.. hehe!
Quote from: Retro_Boy_G;575790You could send him bit by bit of the car.. hehe!
thats still cheaper than the petrol :WaveBye
haha yeah.. surely there will be companies who would take it up and back for you for less than the price of petrol. Also keeps your miles down! :)
Quote from: Retro_Boy_G;575790You could send him bit by bit of the car.. hehe!
i speed read that n thought u said "send him bit by bit."
lol.. quite a diff between sending the car up there or sending craig down bit by bit lol :Giggle
hey stop talking about me lol, yeah roof was a pig, iv done the best i cud with it so hope it last`s, best bet would have been to weld it up :)
Really looking forward to the finished product now guys, going to look really good.
Would look hell of a lot nicer with a GP body kit.. fancy making a donation? :)
Make sure alot of attention was given to the roof panel where the sunroof fills, Its notorious for rusting from the inside out and the four inside edges can end up looking pretty brutal.
I really want to see what this car will look like once is completely painted
Are you going to leave the door trims off and filler over? or you putting them back on?
Well if you want the kit then let me know as its only £520 for the 4 pieces, well cheap for whats on offer.
Thanks for the offer dude.. but i honestly couldn\'t afford it at the moment..
Von - The trims will be going back on if its the same trim i\'m thinking of. Do you mean the one that runs right around the car and is usually black on an EGI? If so then yeah it will be going back on. :)
oh, and in case anyone was wondering how it looked before you will find some pictures here. :)
http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=51555&page=4
yeah i ment the trim that went all the way around. Sick of mine keep falling of in the winter tried every form of solvent known to man. lol. just wondered if it would be better to remove and what it would look like.
interloper: how do you prep the rear spoiler? on my one the paint is flaking off quite badly =( do i need to scrape all the paint off first prior to spraying? or jus get the flakes off and sand down with maybe 600 grade paper then prime and spray?
cheers man

You\'ll find that paint just keeps on flaking man! Its a nightmare! I tried doing Giannis spoiler for his car before Craig got it and it was hell! :reallymad No idea how Craig has managed with it.
I\'m pretty sure he is having the same problem with mine unfortunately.. If it keeps happening i might need to look for a new spoiler! :(
Remember after priming you need to flat it with something like 1000 or 1200 grit so the paint will bind.
Its not quite as conventional as that due to it being vulcanised rubber and not fibreglass. Its got alot of elasticity to it so you need to use a special type of primer.
the wings kinda like rubber, it flexes n bends for past time, alot like the bumper... well i sanded it with 40 grit to remove the deulux house paint lol, then plastic primer which flexes, then primer, no idear how its guna turn out, it a prob be ok unless you really push your finger in :D time will tell...
It\'s cool, i\'m sure Craig can make me up something awesome with his fibreglass skillz! Infini spoiler.. yes please!
will be good ot see the result b4 i start respraying mine.
Hate the way it is now.. red with a big fat patch of rubber!!
Quote from: Retro_Boy_G;576986It\'s cool, i\'m sure Craig can make me up something awesome with his fibreglass skillz! Infini spoiler.. yes please!
maybe he can make some rear diffusers :D
nah, you want carbon fibre, not fibre glass diffusers :D
unless he can do that :O

lol iv done a bit of carbon fiber lol, i made a set of carbon intercooler pipes :)

wow.. cool =)
u fancy carboning up my fc..? :p
Really interesting set of photos! Would love to see the roof pre-primer! We have one to tackle and it scares me as such thin metal there... eek!
Thank you! I think you were writing that post while i was owning your other half on Forza tonight.. haha! The less said about my sunroof the better. :(
retro your getting yourself confused with me!
haha.. no no, you were getting owned too! :)

WOW!!! thats gonna look soooo goooooooood when finished!! :)
thats just the base coat :D spent some time today 800 grit wet block sanding the car, 1 side down 1 to go lol then the final coat and clear :)
Soz for the delays but works being a coont the noo, but on holiday next week so it`ll be all done :D
can i be next in line for a new paint job pleeeze :)
well that depends on :
1. does it has a sunroof lol
2. is it rusty
3. you you have lots ofmoney to give me lol...
Lookin better all the time. Retro you\'ll be really pleased when you get your car back I\'m sure. Big thumbs up to you Mr interloper.
Thanks guys. I actually can\'t wait to get her back! It\'s just a shame about the alternator problem.. hopefully get that fixed asap. Got a lot planned for the interior too! :)
looking really good there chaps, white is a lovely colour for the FC especially with some cool alloys gracing it.

Not really sure to be honest mate, the skirts, spoiler and front bumper still need to be attached.
yeah need to rub down the clear coats, giving it a few days to cure tho as its freezing and a foot of snow here :(
passenger side flattened and polished, tiz nice n shiney lol, a few bits im going to touch up as im not happy with, but nothing major..

Looks incredible man! Can\'t wait to get some mesh behind that front bumper. It looks soo much better than it did with the original rubber grill on it.
Oh, got some nice coilovers for it too yesterday as i feel it\'s still sitting far too high even after lowering it on -35mm springs.
Pimpin!
Bitchin\'!:2eek
Is it wrong that i\'m slowly begining to hate you man?:evillaugh Next you\'ll tell me your bedding Keira Knightly and you\'ve bought an NSX-R!!!:2Mad
Then you really will have to die! Larkhall mafia or no!
Looking really good there fellas, nice to see progress pics as it shows just what can be done in a garage. Is that just cellulose paint? My white one is celly, nice and simple and easy to blow in if it has to be repaired.
looking good as always retro boy.
the only thing i question is a lack of of a TII front bumper, sorry to say, but they look much nicer.
Anyway, your car will be looking a lot better than either of mine :D
I actually purchased a TII front bumper but it wouldn\'t fit correctly. Once the front splitter goes on there wont be too much difference. :)
These could be the last pictures you ever see of the car as i think Craig is ready to burn the thing to the ground.. Hopefully it will be in my hands by the weekend and Craig can start to relax again! :) . I think it\'s also safe to say Craig wont ever be buying an FC! haha..

Quality! Ha ha! We NEED to get this thing on the road manny! Absoloutly LOVE the big wide mouth and the front splitter!:god
It NEEDS slammed y0! Can\'t wait to get the Teins on it.. bitchin
She is home!!! Just like to thank Craig for the awesome job he done on the car.. I\'ll get some pics up soon once I\'ve cleaner her up a bit.. Me and James tried to fit some bucket seats last night but they might be too high up.. :( . It would have made sense to start on the passenger side as now i have no seat installed on the drivers side.. I\'m going to try get them fitted tonight.
Hey, good progress you\'ve made since i last spoke to you.
Cars looking great !
Cheers bud! Expect some pictures tonight! :)
Looks way better now. Get her all polished up and get some nice arty shots up :mmmm
Cheers man.
Well me and James are just finished fitting the coils.. she is slammed to the max now! haha.. The front splitter isn\'t attached yet and my indicators don\'t seem to work now.. Can anyone tell me how you are supposed to get into the side indicators?!!?
Fitted a front brace strut and started chopping away at the back to fit a rear brace too.. i messed up a bit and have now decided to rip all the interior out the back.. driftcore! Should have lost a bit of weight i\'d imagine as all that crap they put in the back is heavy!
I\'ll try get some pictures tomorrow..
She is looking gorgeous now man. You had a bash at fitting the wind deflectors yet?......
...Seing as your such a bloody expert!:Laugh :god("in" joke! Lol!)
haha thanks man. If you are a good boy one day I\'ll show you how to fit them.. :) I\'m going to spray them with the tint first then fit them..
I have a free night tonight so there "should" be some pictures up.. unless I am killed by my grinder.
Nice work you did ther...
Cheers buddy. The car is long gone now though :(
One last picture in all her glory!
