First of all I was wondering if anyone had any tips on the easiest way to clean a rotor up?
I\'m using carb cleaner at the moment which seems to be working ok, just giving me a bit of a headache! lol (hence why I stopped for now)
Also curious as to how clean they actually need to be??
As you can see in the below pics... a dirty one, and one clean side of the rotor.
Is that clean enough??

the outside is fine but the important bits are the oil, side, corner and apex seal groves. If you can leave them to soak a little.
Use an old sharpened side seal to clean the side seal groove, you will be suprised how hard you will have to scrape and how much stubborn crap will come out. Do the apex groove with an old sharpened apex seal. You can also clean the corner seal hole and the oil control ring groove with the sharpened apex seal.

cheers mate... I\'ve actually cleaned it alot better inc all the grooves etc.
Jim, I just wanted to ask you when you jacked the car up to disconnect the flyhweel from the clutch through the access panel. How high were the axle stands and what height lifting jack did you use?
I\'m thinking 750mm axle stands and 850mm jack but not sure if that\'s enough so wanted to ask you. Wanted to send you a direct message but culdn\'t seem to find an option to do that on here !!!!
Thanks in advance ..
hi mate,
I got the car as high as possible to be honest. Jacked the car up underneath on the subframe..... put some axle stands in, then jacked it from the other side as high as possible. Then put an axle stand under the sill.
I then moved to the other side and done the same thing again.
I used the axle stands at the max height possible. I originally jacked it up but there just wasn\'t enough space for me underneath.
As for exact measurements etc, unsure.
I used halfords 2 tonne trolley jack along with halfords standard axle stands.
You\'ll soon know wether there\'s enough room for you under there or not!!
You don\'t need heaps of room. Just enough to get your head under the gearbox and to move your arms about.
Any questions doing it, feel free to ask.
