Post by: leeincivic on January 09, 2009, 08:12:08 PM
ola!! as you may of already read in my threads i am removing the air con from my car, i have completely removed all the aircon stuff from the engine bay but i am now wanting to remove the rest behind the glove box inc the 2 pipes which run through the firewall (circled in pic below)

now the trouble is that i know what i need to remove from the box behind the glove box and also that i need to put it back together in order for the blowers to still work right but cant get the box apart!!!:(

i have removed the glovebox then there is a screw right infront of me which i removed and also 3 clips and the nut which holds it to the footwell but i cannot seem to get the box split totally to remove the inerds??

am i doing this right? HELP!!! lol

From memory, remove the glove box and the ac gubbins is right behind/under that. You need to remove the plastic box it\'s encased in and remove the ac from within that then rebolt and replace the plastic box back where it came from. Lol think that makes sense (just about!)

I seem to remember that there is a 10mm nut or bolt right at the top of the box which is hard to see. I spend a while pulling the box and wondering why it wouldn\'t move!

from memory
i thought if you removed the aircon box behind the dash
you got to make some bypass pipes for the air from the fan?

thanks kbareham, a rough idea where this bolt is??? haha

i have removed the front screw (seen as soon as removed the glove box) to split the box, the box them starts to split so i can see the gubbins but then stops, i dont wanna rag it incase it breaks

do i have to split the box or can i remove the whole lot at once then split out of the car or evevn in the footwell?

You need to pull the whole box out then split it, Lee.

You\'ll need a long extension and socket to get the nots out that hold it in place. From memory they\'re gold coloured so should be easy to spot.

Yup, two bolts - the top one is above the glovebox. Take it out, lie in the footwell, and it\'s about 45 degree up into the dash from the top edge of the glovebox - you can get at it with an extension bar :)
There are some good guides on RX7Club :)
