....my wife was this dirty! :Giggle
Thought I just had to show you guys the horror of what my lovely Rex has turned into! I\'ve been on lates/nights all over Christmas and New Year, been using the Rex to commute cos it\'s been a bit cold for the bike lol and today was literally the first time in a fortnight I\'ve had the car out in daylight!
Jesus, just look at the state of it!

Goddamn, i guess we have to have gritters and road salt and all that, though I\'ve had enough sideways moments of late even with them, but imagine what damage it must be doing underneath all that lot. Time to get out the Meguiars, methinks.......
Take it you have waxoyled it under there?
I use Scottoiler protective spray stuff. It\'s designed for bikes, and it\'s absolutely everything-proof! So much so it\'s difficult to clean it off when you want to. Just as well, really....
Good work! :)
Time to get the hose out then :p
blimey that is very dirty, i dont think mines ever been that bad, but then mine only comes out on nice days.....................and thats just the wife :D
So is that Scottoiler spray good - does it dry out or stay wet once applied? Looks a bargin £6.81 per lt.
Nice car Nik, have fun cleaning it mate:Giggle.
I have that midpipe available for you.:yes
REW_D
hey mate, this might be a shamless plug lol but i could do a full exterior detail including paint correction removing any swirls and faded paint for £120 if your interested?
Im surprised if you have any spare time left Gandy....if 5th Gear last night is anything to go by....anyother form of washing a car is a no no now!
Shoulda seen mine the other day after the trip from Manchester to Edinburgh, I actually had little salt veins forming off the front bumper.
It\'s ridiculous. There\'s never this much salt on the roads by my German place, it\'s strictly an English overkill thing. Would rather put winter tyres on my car and not be able to watch it slowly rotting into the floor.
if its well protected it wont, make sure you got plenty of underseal under the car and keep the wax levels topped up, i usually put on a thick coat every 2 weeks, and itll be fine, just before winter i normally strip off any wax and steer away from carnauba waxes because they weather away quicker, then apply longer lasting waxes and make sure i put on a good sealent too
Did you watch 5th Gear last night? They had someone get 3 cars perfect and then put one through a carwash, another a jet wash and the last a valet. He marked them out of 10 for damage, and the one that won was the carwash with 5/10.
The jet wash was a 9!! people let the brush drop on the floor and it scratched the car to shreads!! The valet guy used a squiggy thing....that left loads of scores too.
So you are about to get busy I think!
I go to the jetwashes where you buy time and chose the bits you want, never use the brush as you never know where it\'s been before.
Will sometimes take my own sponge and bucket to work the soap in, but most of the time I just lance it off.
At the jet wash, if you have to use one, use the lance to clean the brush!!!
Oh and I\'m just off to do a trackdays with boxes in my car!?!?! what was that all about?
Fifth gash! not on the same planet as Top Gear
johnm, yeah, it\'s good stuff. It sorta goes dry-ish, leaves a film a bit like WD40 only not so oily. Eventually washes off and needs re-application, but certainly cheaper than other brands I\'ve used, like a Hein Gericke aerosol that isn\'t even enough to do the bike, let alone a car :yes
REW D, cheers, dude, I\'ll send you a mail. I think fun won\'t be involved cleaning it; its bleeding freezing out there!
gandyRX, it\'s tempting, mate, but I just blew my Christmas bonus vouchers on half the Meguiars product range :Giggle
Jon, shame on you, a biker using jetwashes! Do you not like having any grease in your suspension linkages, then?! :spank
FDAsh, just a bucket and sponge and pump-up plant sprayer works for me, might take longer, but at least I\'m not inheriting twenty ham-fisted idiots quotas of grit and abuse of the equipment. I agree the salt they use nowadays is horribly corrosive, and offers less grip than just leaving the roads to freeze anyway! :Hammer
Rob, you\'re right, 5th gear is proper pony. Is it just me, or does VBH look like she\'s suffering from a stroke everytime she talks? Horrible ugly thing that she is! :D
Right, think that\'s everything....and breathe...
I went out the other day, nice and dry, but whited out road and the rears lit up as though I was driving on ice when I brushed the throttle. Crazy.
And on the subject of VBH, does anyone else feel the need to pull her jaw off and bludgeon her with it whenever she does that squeaky laugh? :reallymad
....yes! :yes:Giggle
I\'m going to have sweet dreams of doing GBH to VBH tonight :)
i thought it was quite \'nice\' when VBH squeels when she laughs.. or is it just me..?!?!
reminds me of something ;p
VBH is loverly! Leave her alone!!
Nik....where did my post say that I use a jet wash???
Bucket and sponge for me....although I was never anal enough to get the toothbrush out like a lot of my mates did! Bikes are for riding....not sitting at home in front of the fire cleaning!
Jon, you\'re just weird, mate. VBH is a horse-faced squealing hooray freakoid :3Confused! But you\'re right, bikes are for riding, which is why mines in currently only slightly better state than the car :Giggle!
Well thats ok....cos I know you wouldnt be in the queue when she becomes single again! Although I think my wife would have something to say!
Only thing I used to clean regularly was the chain....they are too expensive to mess with, and the more you look after them...the longer they last.
I\'m geting stuck in about Rexy this weekend - got most of Auto Glyms\' product range in my garage. After an xmas blast back to Edinburgh to see the parents se looks like she\'s been dragged through a quarry (and considering the state of the A66 that might well be the case!)
Few beers and a few hours of elbow grease on saturday methinks should sort it!

What exactly do you do? (shameless plug being responded too!)
My car has some minor blemishes in the paint (not scratched to metal or the like but more bad polishing marks..) and would be very interested in having it brought up to spotless in time for the show season this year (I\'ve now got the show car leather interior, but exterior it\'s not quite there, but is pretty close!). I think most of the blemishes are following an incident with me having parked under a tree which birds nested in, and I may have been a bit hasty in rubbing off the mess leaving faint swirl marks.
Would also be great to know more about what I should do as part of cleaning - presently it simply gets washed with halfords own car wash stuff and polished with a microfibre cloth and halfords standard car polish (which, in all, is probably making it worse!)
EEP! jet wash the RX:spank I lost paint off a car bumper once using a jet wash.
Bucket, sponge and alot of TLC for me :)
Going to give the 2 bucket method a go when the show season starts again...
Chris
Some complete and utter ****\'s put a dent in my roof and passenger door! :2Mad Halfway through cleaning it (but have to keep pausing for mundane boring things like going to work, eating, getting feeling back in my numb extremities lol) and found two big dents, one in the door and two close together in the roof. Well, the door, maybe it\'s a car-park clumsiness dent, but the roof?! Looks like someone\'s just thumped it twice, the utter ****s! :reallymad Obviously some maggot-c0cked lackwit who thinks its funny to bash up people\'s cars in the car park or something. GRRRR! Suppose I should count meself lucky they didn\'t key it as well!

Gutted mate, will they push out?
Quote from: gary dickens;572887Gutted mate, will they push out?
Dunno. Had a gentle prod at the ones in the roof, but they didn\'t seem to co-operate much. Maybe a specialist could do it, but I think my hamfisted attempts might just make it worse.
the door one\'s not too bad, only shows up at certain angles, and like I said, it could\'ve just been someone being clumsy, but the ones in the roof have really p!ssed me off, because they can only have been done deliberately, and that\'s just out of order. There\'s a massive scratch right accross the roof, too, that\'s through to the metal, so God knows who did what and why, but If \'d caught them.......
That\'s the trouble with leaving it in a car park at work all times of the day or night, i suppose
i got 2 dents in my roof also.. dunt kno how they got there?!?!
no scratched just 2 indents.. quite deep also for their size.
