hi all
well ive been hanging around an reading posts for a while,to learn some stuff an gain some much needed info
i have just got myself an 88 red fc none turbo gen2
from a member on here
Brad1234
but he got it from another member on here called
DemonRx4
but now iam the proud owner lol:driving
first off if anyone has any info on her i would be really greatfull
from what brad told me,an from what ive read about her on here
she seems to have this
-Rear spoiler (duck tail style)
-Turbo 2 wheels with very good tyres
-Hi flow manifold (custom made, but bought from Rotechniks so it\'s not a dog)
-Air pump has been removed and blocked off
-Magnecor leads
-FD Spark plugs
-k&N Panel filter
- New gauge backs so they\'re white but glow blue and red when on
-New lower arms (powder coated red) with poly-bushes
-New/used nearside back box
-Turbo 2 lip spoiler
-Hawk race pads (not fitted)
(got this info from demonRx4\'s post)
an i understand from demonRx4\'s posts that the engine was re-built at 77000,its now on 94000
so effectivly 17000 old since the re-build
also has
Tokico HP gas struts,on the rear (they any good?)
seems to have a straight through exhaurst system (man its loud,i love it :Giggle),but i get some MASSIVE pops, bangs an cracksles from it,is that normal??
an seems not much has changed while brad had it:)
here she is now
ive had her a few weeks now an love it,totally hooked, she drinks a LOT :chat
but hey-ho,so did my old scooby turbo :Laugh
ive now fitted
-sleepy eye kit
-strut brace
-lots of T-cut :Laugh:Laugh

i want to get her fully undersealled as soon as poss
but also want advice on airfilters
weather to change to a cone type, with proper ducting,an which one people recommend
or stick with the K&N panel in the stock box?
also OTHER than turboing (dont want to go down that route)
how to get more power from the old girl (not that shes lacking, but you know us petrolheads :Giggle)
i would also like to lift the rear of the bonnet at the hinges,as i like the look
so has anyone done this? or any info on how to?
also on the oil front, ive read a lot about the whole do\'s an donts with syinthetic oils, but iam confused as hell
are some good an some bad ?
or are all bad?
or should i just stick to mineral?
sorry its a long winded post, laced with loads of questions, but thanks in advance
also iam from YORK
cheers
iain
Welcome to MRC :wave
You\'re best bet is to have a read through the technical stickes etc, you should get most of your answers in there :)
FC\'s rule! :god
oh ive been doing plenty of that lol
thanks for the welcome brett
Hi Iain and welcome to MRC,
Nice to see an EGI they are getting few and far between now,
If it were me I would just put a filter in the box, did this on my own EGI some 10 years ago but have a look in the box first as the car has some mods it may have an aftermarket fiter anyway.
A decent panel filter is best - I tried lots of combinatiosn and you can\'t beat a high flow panel in the stock airbox.
thanks guys
it does have a K&N panel filter inside the box
so should i stick with that then?
instead of an aftermarket filter,an ducting
I\'d leave it as it is, just ensure the filter is kept clean and well oiled. :wave
That ones a nice car, seen it in the flesh :D
just surprised that brad sold it tbh.
anyhu, welcome!!
cheers
brad was a little upset, but couldnt insure it
some kind of mix up with insurance
so it had to go
i saw it on ebay,an missed it (but it failed to hit its reserve)
we exchanged, texts an emails,an sorted it out
so happy me,now has her :driving:Giggle
Just remember to warm it up before you drive it around and keep it topped up with oil and it will go on and on and on :D
sounds like my EX:evillaugh:evillaugh
cheers mitch
always warm up my cars, always have, but thanks for the heads up
No worries :) I just don\'t like people to thrash rotarys from cold cause they don\'t know what they are doing, but you seem to :) so its all good :D
:wave welcome watch the rear end in these slippery conditions. Nice to see someone up my kneck of the woods, live in hull but work in pocklington, enjoy
WOW
pop in sometime pete,an have a brew:cheers
iam at Fourways
moor monkton
place that does the bamboo, sheds, plants, garden stuff
i have the end bungalow
an dont worry my \'daily\' drive is a honda prelude
an thats white,so its kind of a grey brown, blacky smudge currently:D
so if both are there pop on in
but the rex is great fun so gets driven a lot too:3gears-rh
just a bit curious, how do you drive it at night with the sleepy eye kit? Mines bad enough and its not even sleepy eye
Nice FC manny! :WaveBye Welcome to the gang! FC\'s FTW!
I\'m so glad you posted pics there because a buddy of mine was wondering if you could put a Turbo II splitter on an N/A FC bumper. And as you\'ve shown.... you can! Lol!
Bit late now though because he just got a turbo II bumper with a splitter on it! Doh! Lol!
Quote from: dthebuk;571452just a bit curious, how do you drive it at night with the sleepy eye kit? Mines bad enough and its not even sleepy eye
I\'d like to know if there is a way to have sleepy eye lights but still be able to pop them up fully for night time driving? Any one got any ideas?
not my doing with the splitter, but yes clearly it can be done, although it was red,an has been (badly) painted black,an its flaking off
but will get re-done soon
as for the sleepy eyes, they have a 3 way switch,at night you just set it to open all the way,an you get the whole light (as good as they are lol ):Giggle
an that should answer your question to jimi
i got my kit from these,SLEEPY EYES (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MAZDA-RX7-SLEEPY-EYE-KITS-LAZY-EYE-KITS-BEST-KIT-OUT_W0QQitemZ370137331828QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item370137331828&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1299%7C66%3A4%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318)
works great,literally a 10 min job
an great fast delivery
(although i did feel a little dear for 3 wires,a switch,an instructions,an told him that,an he did give me £5 back lol, says price is universal, but the kits arent,as kits for say a ferrari, are a lot harder than say an MR2,an that the RX7 is one of the easyiest around)
any good bulbs,lights about?
Welcome to the club. I have seen this car in the flesh also (when Brad had it). Its a nice clean FC. Use mineral oil not synthetic is what I was told. Castrol gtx mineral is about the best by all accounts. Will we be seeing you at any of the RWYB days at York raceway?
that is for sure a VERY high possibility
when are they on next??
Not sure but they run fairly regularly. Gonna sort my ca out a little then have another crack at it. Gonna try and get into the 13\'s this year.
