Title: Big brakes for small cash?
Post by: Jimi_Hendrix on December 31, 2008, 05:53:02 PM
Whats the cheapest way of putting enormous brake disks and calipers beneith 17" alloys on an FC (90 Turbo II)?

Can you put the disks and calipers from an FD on? Whats the cost of that for front and back? I read about a guy puting a huge Brembo big brake kit for an FD onto an FC but he had to machine the face of the hubs or something?

Any help greatfully recieved as always guys!:Thumbs-up

We have developed a 335mm kit for the FC, with the first kit out of the door on Monday. Probably a little more than you were looking at, but worth a shameless plug :)

Just to add these are £1160 + VAT

They include
6 pot monster callipers
335mm discs
Brackets
Bolts

What they dont include are pads and lines....but we can supply these if you need us too.

We might be able to put together a set of 4 pots...but I would need to get a price for you on these.

Change the fronts to the HUGE brakes, and then swap the front calipers and put them on the back, thus making sure that braking bias is the same :D

How much bigger (if at all) are FD front disks compared to FC Turbo II disks?

Anyone know the measurements?

Cheers! :Thumbs-up

We do a very nice big brake kit conversion for the FC.

Ive put in some pictures for the 335mm kit, but we can also do a 360mm kit providing your wheels can fit around them! They will sit under 17" rims, but you would need to check the offset on the wheel first.

The 360mm are £1265.26
The 335mm are £1155.18

Prices dont include Lines (£33), Pads (these are down to your personal preference) P&P, and lastly VAT

Mine has a set of nissan skyline front calipers on it the stopping power is unreal.. I can get clearer photos of the set up if you want to see how its done..

Think this would be one of the cheapest upgrades for a FC and seems very effective

Cheep and braking systems shouldn\'t be put together, perhaps check out some uprated OEM sized disks? although I am interested in the skyline brakes..lol I just don\'t wanna mess up the braking bias.

Checked this out today man looks pretty handy in fairness. Theres an adaptor/spacer which looks as if it could be made veay easily and the calipers  mounted on this. The disks are around 300-310mm I think was a rough measurement..

Will up load some pics in a while:Thumbs-up

Buy some drilled/grooved disc\'s for the FC and put FD callipers on the front. Should be enough breaking for what you need. Oh and some up rated pads too maybe. Mine has grooved disc\'s and FD callipers. It seems good to me.

Was that a straight bolt on affair? Those FD calipers?

I keep spoting RX8\'s and their brake disks seem pretty mahoosive, does anyone know if its possible to fit those to a TII? They should be easy to source 2nd hand or from a scrappy.

My calipers were on the car when I got it, but I believe they are just a straight swap for the original ones. it\'s a nice cheap alternative to buying an aftermarket kit. I don\'t think the FD disc\'s fit though. Something to do with the bell housing size or something.

Just out of interest - do the RX8 brakes fit on an FC - with larger wheels - they are some of the biggest brakes around.

I\'m planning on rebuilding the calipers - as the stock FC ones are actually pretty good when in good working order - with aftermarket discs and pads the stopping power is excellent for normal or \'spirited\' road use. :cheers
