I\'ve finally made a start on cleaning my engine!
This is one housing I\'ve cleaned up....

At first glance does it look ok?
Cheers!
Nice to see you making a start matey lol, i\'ve finished mine now and just waiting for a clutch b4 it goes back in the car :D
Are there any scores along it?
Am wondering what the black line is to be honest? How many miles have the housings done? Are there any chips along the edges?
No scoring etc.
The housing itself is all smooth. I have had a look at picstures of others which are "good" housings and they look quite similar.
Not sure how many miles are on it, but it was used in a rebuild 3K miles ago.
This is very slight chipping of the surface material on 2 of the edges....

Sorry for the duff pictures, but it\'s really hard to get a decent pic of it. Does this look ok?
any chips or scores will prob catch the seals on rotation and damage them..
well there\'s no scoring. I\'ve had a look about the net and slot of "good" housings for sale have the exact same amount of chipping as my housing. I\'ll have a look at the rebuild DVD again and the fsm.
Any rebuilders know for sure?
IIRC then as long as the chips dont extend past 2mm from the edge then it shouldn\'t make any difference. It states that somewhere in the manual too
Here are a couple of pics
Ah sound... cheers mate. I\'ll get the other one cleaned up, then measure them.
I have a downloaded manual, but for some reason don\'t have that section in it!?
It has about checking the face of the plates, the apex seals, side springs, corner seals etc. Also about measuring the outside of the housing, but nothing in the condition of the surface of it?!
Anyway... great help, cheers!!
This is from the factory rebuild manual mate thats why it\'s not in the manual you have, i took the images from pineapple racing site
