Hey, has anyone got any clues on how to remove the banjo bolts on the oil cooler? we\'ve been freezing our nuts off trying to do it because it sprung a leak and leaked oil all over my rad.... we\'re going to try two monkey wrenches close to one another and just twist... any better ideas would be appreciated. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year (Happy Eid/Hannukah/Guru Nanaks birthday etc etc etc etc...)

Never done it myself before, but usually the banjo bolt just unscrews (normal rotation) and the banjo just lifts off. Try this link section D14

yeah I alrteady have the Haynes for it, and i\'ve been followingthe instructions, it just seems like the banko bolt has siezed and i\'m wondering if anyone has any tipd for trying to get it off this particular location
Well either a little bit of heat or something like Loctite freeze and release, Or a combo of both. It worked wonders with the height adjustment nut on my coilovers.
Sounds like you may have to take the cooler right out by removing the pipes at the other end so you can get the thing on a bench or on the ground so you can really give the banjo some welly,
Totally agree with Clive as for some reason these are all very tight. You can leave it on but you will more than likey start bending the mounting brackets. Are you really sure its this cooler as the power steering cooler pipe is a bigger culprit than most other things at leaking in that area. The pipes also follow the oil cooler hoses as well so unless you have a definate location I would double check to save any more grieve at those Banjo unions.
we\'ve checked the power steering cooler pipes and they\'re in good shape, the only reason we know its the oil cooler is because i have no fuel pressure on the gauage in the car and the oil is spraying onto my rad... pretty sure its that
I suppose the oil colour will give it away as well, power steering tends to be red.
Let me know if you need another cooler as I have one which although a little weathered still holds pressure well but I will not be able to post anything til after new year. Yours for £40 delivered. Dont even go to mazda for a new one as it might shock you, they are pretty expensive things.
Yeah, they wanted about 300 for a new alternator, got mine reconditioned for 70, ok, i\'ll probably be taking you up on that offer, i\'m waiting until after next weekend, I\'m going to a place in devon (part of a christmas present) see what they have down there first.
There are funny shape clips in the lines where they couple up to the others - you can pull this clip out and then pull the lines apart.
Thats if im thinking of the same place you are talking about :)
Think the clips you are on about belong to the FD lines. pretty sure FC lines are all screw thread type.
well, if there is an easier way than those damned banjo bolts, it will make it a lot better for me, because i could get all parts in a decent condition, or at least it will make it easier to get the banjo bolts off if it was in a proper vice
