Title: Carbon fibre wings
Post by: NeilSR on December 19, 2008, 02:46:55 PM
Hey folks, just wondering on what people think if I went for carbon fibre wings on the fc?

I can get hold of the best carbon vinyl Ive ever seen, its basically the carbon fibre weave, but with an adhesive backing.  It can be fitted easily to the curves of the wings, and once laquered is impossible to tell the difference between that and the real thing.

Only thing is it costs around £80 for 1m x 1220mm

So, opinions?

Lol, its kind of what Im thinking but wanted other peoples opinions

Plus unsure if they would suit the cat anyway

Might stick to covering xbox 360 controllers in it instead, lol

Wing is already full carbon so wont be touching it anyways, lol

Yeah Im already considering that as an option, might chuck some over the fuel filler cap as a trial for external fit

Looked in the carbon stuff and whats available.  There is quite a fair bit from Australia who do the inner door triangle, door sill covers, light covers and bonnets.  Personally to have carbon wings then you need other carbon products as well and it must be high quality.  The vinyl stuff I have used on some interior bits on my old FD and it must be stuck really really well, even with laquer I am not sure how long it will stay on the wings for if you take into effect the weathering they will take over time.
