Title: Sunroof Removal.
Post by: Retro_Boy_G on December 18, 2008, 07:23:43 PM
My sunroof rust is the worst bit of my car and it\'s starting to get on my nerves. Has anyone ever taken theirs off and got the rust off, painted it and stuck it back on? I\'ve not even looked at the fittings yet but i was just wondering how easy it is to get off? any tips?

Any help would be awesome! :)

Gianni

i think geting the rust out of it isn\'t really possible.

when i took my 7 to get other rust sorted i asked the guy about it and he said they rust from the inside meaning the bubbles on the top are just the tip of the iceburg

ha ha i\'m not buying a whole new roof! I think i\'ll just remove it and sand it down and give it a paint.. doesn\'t need to be a perfect job.. just as long as it doesn\'t look really bad.

haha looks good! But to be honest i think id rather keep it white. i would love to do something crazy with it like stick a rising sun on it or something.. but i am scared it might turn out a bit gay.

Taking the roof out is easy - (assuming you change over the whole lot) just drop the roof lining and you are around 4 big bolts way from dropping the whole lot :)

So the roof is a removable pannel!?! How could it be? Surly there is angle grinding involved!?

Gianni, from the look of your sunroof i would think its beyond using it again. I think you\'ll need a replacement panel. Cant be sure though. I\'ll have a good look next time im over.:D

That is bad ass ade! I\'m now thinking carbon fibre.. is that too chavy? That rising sun could probably get pulled off on a TII or something totally extreme..
