Well It finally happened. The classic wet round-a-bout into fence trick. Was quite lucky actually only hit one corner resulting in the need for a new front wing,Bumper and a tyre. Could have been a lot worse really. I wasn\'t speeding or anything and I think thats what saved me in the end. The car still drives fine so I\'m pretty sure there isn\'t any structural damage (well maybe a bit to my pride!).
Anyway I\'ve been up to my doner car in an attempt to get the bumper and wing off it. The wing is nearly off except a couple of bolts that are really hard to get too but I can\'t seem to get the bumper off. I\'ve undone all the bolts along the top and bottom of it. but it won\'t seem to shift. I\'ve run out of daylight now so have given up for the day but if anyone can help, It would be welcomed with open arms. Oh and If anyone has a really cheep passenger side wing for sale that would be good too as the one on my doner car is only a tempory fix as its all dented.
Heres a pic of the damage

Bummer, hope it\'s a straightforward fix!
gutted for you Adrian, trust little one wasnt in the car ?
Narr just me and a mate. Ironically we were on our way to look at a car for him!
There are some bolts in the wing - 3 of them if I recall correctly - you\'ll have to take the wheel arch liner out to get at them. They hold the side of the bumper on - also 2 right in the corner at the top.
Yeah they\'re the little buggers! Must be just them holding it on now. Cheers Prof.
Ouch!! join the club :( - i came off a R-a-B and hit a fence in my FD last year... only problem was that i slid on wet grass into a 60mph sign. it\'s suprising how much damage you can do at 20mph!
Glad your OK and the damange is not too bad - hope it gets fixed soon!
bloody hell matey :(
how fast do you reckon the impact was ??
and looks like the expensive bit survived ( the splitter !! )
whats wrong with the tyre ?? it looks "up" ??
so you are looking for
1 - wing
2 - bumper
3 - FTP lense
4 - Indicators
not toooooooooo bad i suppose
the angle of impact doesnt look obvious .. very strange to look at the bumper ??
at least you walked away - and thats the important bit buddy :D
Ahhh no man! Thats a real pain in the arse! Gutted! At least the splitter has made it through ok!
Hope its only cosmetic! And at least your alright!
im sure it wont cost too much to fix if you can find some second hand bits on here, or its a good excuse to get a aftermarket bumper and some nice wide arches :Giggle
ah unlucky, its good that your ok tho....and the splitter :P

I don\'t know really mate. When I spun it was probably about 30mph (2nd gear), At impact around 20mph I would say. managed to scrub some of the speed off. Might even have been less (it happened so fast \'m not sure)
There were 2 impacts on the one corner which is probably why its pushed in as far as it is. The rear tyre had 2 small cuts in it so needs replacing.
I have FTP lenses (glad I didn\'t sell them now!) I have indicators and a headlight so should be ok for that side of things.
Still it could have been so much worse (at least thats what I keep telling myself)
Also add some Goodyear Eagle F1s to the list of things you need to change :) They don\'t cost much on the stock TII rims :) the grip level is much much better with them, check out the prices at camskill.co.uk
Not a bad price, but what are they like in the wet with that tread pattern?

You need to pull the front bumper forward about 2" to get the wing out. There is one bolt in the middle in the door shut.Soon be fixed.
Cheers Tim. I think i\'ve got away with it not pushing the wing backwards. The door operates ok so I should be ok.
If theres anything apart from the wing you need then you can have for free mate, I need to have a clear out anyway. Think i have the bumper as well, also the inner arch liners if yours has gone out of shape.
Sound Pete will have a look and see if there is anything else. I think I have everything except the wing (well a wing without dents!). Thanks again mate you really are a star.
Happy Christmas.
Right you can have the wing as there is a a dent by the front but it will push out. Red as well and UK one. I have no bumper, did have one but think Replikit kept that??
I have all the other bits as well. Those corners are very flimsey anyway and it should all pull out easily enough. I do have the foam blocks that go inside the bumper and I should have the main metal bumper support somewhere. Again you can have what you want for the postage.
Ok i\'ll PM once i\'ve got the bumper off and had a better look at it all.
As far as the bumper coming off you need to remove the inner arch liners and there are 3 10mm nuts each side .........soak these in WD40 as they are often rusted, some just shear off. You will need a very long extension bar, I use one thats about 2 foot long and this ensures I am on the nut nice, anything shorter and you will be at a silly angle and the nuts will shear if they are rusted (it is a UK car !!!!!)
Yeah Its a uk car and yeah some have sheared off already!
If some have sheared then dont worry too much, you could drill some new holes and replace, i might even have some good brackets which these attach too, i will send those as well if i can get the right ones.
Bloody hell pete - thats impressively kind - this is what i love about my fellow FC owners .. never like to see a FC owner stuck :D :D
hats off to you good buddy :D :D :D
glad u ok.. really surprised ur splitter is not reli damaged.. but its gd news =)
u might as well get pete\'s other gp front bumper then instead of stock one haha
Poor rexy! I\'m glad you are ok dude.
Hey mate, actually doesn\'t look as bad as i\'d expected when you told me about it, damage is more local than i\'d thought. I use Eagle F1\'s on my daily drive and they are as good in the wet as any others i\'ve tried. They cope with standing water no problem from my experience. I\'ve had good experience with dunlop sport 9000\'s too which is what i now use on the rx.
Looks like you\'ve got all the parts you need sorted so am sure you\'ll be back on the road in no time (so no more walking to work in the cold lol) :D
Nasty - at least fences tend to be quite forgiving :yes
These ones were big ugly metal ones so not the best thing to hit really. Like I\'ve said before though it could have been so much worse so I\'m not as gutted as I could have been. Plus Pete has been brill sorting me out with a new wing too. I\'m so glad I bought my doner car now though!
Sorry to hear that matey. Glad you\'re ok.
Chris.

hats off to you good buddy :D :D :D
Cheers but its a two way process and I am sure if I was ever in need of something then someone somewhere will help out. A bit of the old Christmas Spirit does wonders.
very true pete :D
Well I\'ve now got the front wing and the bumper off. Well my mate Ash did most of it whilst I was at work (Cheers Ash). Anyway it looks like the damage is something we can fix so thats good news. Gonna need the bumper bar and a couple of other plates off my other car as well as the headlight, indicator FTP lenses etc. So pretty much as I expected. I\'m just glad there is no structural damage. Here are some pic\'s for you to have a look at.

ekk - looks worse now !!
but an ideal time to get the engine bay nice and clean and get some waxoyl in the inner arches etc...
Yeah I know. I had it all done last year with wax oil and had it booked in again last week for another coat. Sadly It hasn\'t got done now!
Make sure the plug leads go on the right way,
Sorry couldnt resist :) :) :)
now thats gotta hurt !!
did it run any better with them on the right way ??
It must have the bloody thing spun on me!
Still you can\'t knock a 14.1 quarter mile with the plug leads the wrong way round now can ya! I don\'t know anyone else that can say that!
i couldnt make that time matey :(
Why aren`t drag strips down hill with the wind behind you ?
Mick
Well just to update this a little. Me and Ash have been doing bits here and there to get me back on the road again. We have all the bits to fix my car and have removed all the damaged parts. Now its just a case of bolting the new bits back on and making sure everything still lines up correctly. Hopefully I will be back on the road by the end of the week/early next week. It all depends on how much spare time I can get to spend on the car. Then its gonna be a set of tyres all round me think ;)
So we managed to get the car almost fully back together today. Got the wings back on. ( I changed the drivers side one too as the original one was starting to bubble a bit with rust). Got both lights in, bumper bar on and then the bumper. Now its just a case of making sure it all lines up as it should. It looks ok so this shouldn\'t be a problem. All that is left is to drill out some of the bolts underneath that snapped when I took them off. Then I can finish bolting the underside of the car. Anyway pic\'s say a thousand words.
BIG THANKS TO ASH FOR HELPING ME OUT WITH THIS AND LETTING ME USE HIS DIVEWAY.

Hey hey! Glad to see she\'s coming back to life there man! Good job!
yeah and now shes a year younger J plate!
Awesome Ade! Coming along nicely! Are these parts from your other FC?
All except the passenger front wing. Got that off Pdtaylor. Can\'t wait to go out driving her again. When it\'s your daily drive you really miss it when its not available.
Sorry to see this mate glad to read that you are ok and the REX is on the road to recovery. Lucky you have a donor car I bet when we meet up next we will not be able to spot the damage. Take it easy mate see you soon.
Well hopefully not Marcus. Considering neither of us had ever really done this sort of thing before I think we have done pretty well to be honest. It could have been a lot worse than it was though I have to keep telling myself that!

tell me about it. I remeber mine being off the road for a week, i had to drive my sisters clio. People at work started to complaing i wasn\'t my happy cheery self haha
Looks awesome, you wouldn\'t even tell its been in a minor bump !
Shaun
its looking great again you and ash have done a great job :cheers I know what you mean it could have been a lot worse mate you was very lucky. I know who I am going to call if I need any body work done. :god
Yeah Ash not me. I\'ve had enough!
Well I picked the car up from Ash\'s house last night. All seems well so I\'m really happy. I still need to fit the front spats and the front lip spoiler (although it has a little crack in it that I need to repair first). Then all I need to do is final alignment of the lights and bonnet so all the gaps are the same. I will do this at the weekend hopefully.
Good work, should be hooning around in no time :3gears-rh
Only problem is I guess you now owe Ash a \'special\' favour!
Good luck if you\'re sharing a tent again at RS6 ;)
There be none of that in my tent. I\'ll have to borrow one! Besides it can\'t be any worse than last years camping experience.
Sounds like love to me there chaps!!
You can always borrow the one man tent I took as I still have it. It may leak and you get wet feet but at least you\'re safe from those wandering hands :evillaugh
Safe from his wandering hands and into yours aye. Smooth move mate but your just not my type!
Its not his wandering hands you will have to worry about we heard the antics from RS5 :Giggle:Giggle:Giggle:Giggle:Giggle
Glad to hear you have got your rex back and all is well with it. :Thumbsup! Good job all round.
