Title: Anyone got Master Power Turbo\'s?
Post by: leeroy_25 on December 12, 2008, 07:23:52 PM
I have been toying what turbo to get for a while now when I go single.. I am also building an RB30 engine that will be single turbo.. One name that has been thrown up is Master Power. I have heard mixed things but generally good from people who have actually used them! Mostly the common answer is just get a garrett as that\'s what people know. I would like to know if anyone has first hand experience with a master power unit or maybe a friend with one on something else and what the thoughts are and how they perform.

Thank you
Lee

They\'re cheap.
My advise only buy turbos from Garrett, Borg warner, IHI and MHI.

Strange...I have never had any problems with any i have supplied.....Lets hope you all had genuine Masterpower turbos....and not the chinese rip offs that were flying about........Also as Masterpower only do turbos and not kits. People get their own ancillaries....( oil feed lines etc ) one of the most common problems is when people get lines off ebay for example that are labeled as being suitable for t4/t3 turbos but fail to understand that certain turbos need a certain amount of oil flow......many of these oil line kits are manufactured for BB turbos and the hole is the oil fitting is small ( as bb\'s are oil and water cooled)....but putting this on an oil cooled turbo will evetually knacker the turbo and bearings due to oil starvation as it needs to be much bigger!!!!

I presume you meant this Ed!!!?
Yes a little while back now.. That\'s one person that got me thinking about these units in the first place.. hence was interested to see how many people running them and what stories they had to tell.. I hav also heard on other forums that there was some chinese rip off\'s going about a while ago.

i think its prob best to stick with the big names garrett, hks, greddy etc

cant go wrong with a t04

all depends what power you are looknig for and what supporting mods you have

Well a few people on here have had and still have these turbos..and  have had no problems at all...me included...but of course...the choice is yours.....

Also be aware that even if you buy big names you may still have problems.......I know gt42\'s that have given up the ghost after a few miles....so big name turbos dont gaurantee anything....its all about the warranty that is in place and ensuring you are supplied from a goood source.

I think we shouldnt get MasterPower and XSPower products confused, its XSpower products that have the bad rep

i\'m not worried......and if anyone has had problems with theirs...then they should voice their own experiences on here...thats what this forum is all about.
