latest from me
ok hating chrombo with a passion been tucked away working on rex got all the panels to line up properly and making sure with my 19S the arches and doors wont hit. had to take some of the car back to metal to get rid of the key marks so deep one had dented the door and will need some filler ended up looking like this (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y10/ascaudio/26122008854.jpg) (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y10/ascaudio/26122008855.jpg) (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y10/ascaudio/26122008856.jpg) (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y10/ascaudio/26122008857.jpg) (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y10/ascaudio/26122008859.jpg) (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y10/ascaudio/26122008860.jpg) (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y10/ascaudio/26122008861.jpg) (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y10/ascaudio/26122008862.jpg) (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y10/ascaudio/26122008863.jpg) (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y10/ascaudio/26122008864.jpg) (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y10/ascaudio/26122008865.jpg) (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y10/ascaudio/26122008866.jpg) (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y10/ascaudio/26122008867.jpg) (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y10/ascaudio/26122008868.jpg) gave the bottom of the cut away a wider fixing point to add shape to the rex s lovely lines instead of having it flat (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y10/ascaudio/26122008869.jpg) (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y10/ascaudio/26122008870.jpg) and fitted a flux capacitor so now it floats like the hover board marty doc kiss my arse (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y10/ascaudio/26122008871.jpg)

bit more on the story got some hugging seats from atomic thanks guys and here s a how too (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y10/ascaudio/23102008741.jpg)
find a friendly metal fabricating place to make you some flat 8 mm steel for support to bolt onto the standard frames then use some carefully measured hollow 6mm think pipe to add clearance and pitch of the seat

Forgot about these. Had a baby daughter over christmas and it\'s been all go go go. I know i promised to pick them up bud, but i\'ve handed the van back into work, and it\'s gonna cost me too much petrol to pick them up, and postage isn\'t an option for something like these, so pass them on mate, I realy like these and im sorry to fart about, i feel bad for it.

Post by: batman on February 11, 2009, 08:43:05 AM
no mate i got some different ones i found on a drift site they have a better shape than the demon tweeks ones and ive moved them towards the back of the car a little to mount in the standard holes ment using there massive standard black rods just to see them from the seat and to be honest would have made the rx look like a kiddys chopper bike so i moved them in a little and re cut the rods smaller .
but in need of the black triangles to cover the bit behind the wing mirror now so if any one has them please get in touch

right works slowly picking back up had my turbo sent away for a proper v band clamp put on and the doggy welds taken off found the turbo had been from and engine that had failed at some point and some tips obviously found there way through the engine so all work carried out but turbo due to lose boost badly and unbalanced may go any second who knows . (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y10/ascaudio/Photo0136.jpg) (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y10/ascaudio/Photo0137.jpg) guess never to take a suposed friends word for it and treat every one with same suspect view but thats a lesson learned ..... and then getting car ready for paint this week end my painter blokey found a weird crack in a door and after further inspection found a nice ripple (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y10/ascaudio/Photo0140.jpg) (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y10/ascaudio/Photo0139.jpg) so talking ten steps back now need a nice passenger door ready for paint if any one has one please let me know colour not important condition is but after recent happenings will not be just buying because some one says yes its fine !!!!
also selling the border spoiler ..... (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y10/ascaudio/Photo0094.jpg)
found myself a nice amemiya gt wing so any one want this be quick its on ebay
my hks sqv is also for sale after some collective ideas from a member decided on the silent aftermarket recurc valve so no longer want the woosh get in touch
more to follow painting begins soon quiet chuffed as a friend of a friend has a mint contact whos seen the car likes it and offered to paint it for cheep but knowing this guys rep and seen the work dead happy guess what goes around comes around in the end !

:o errrrm, it may be time to LOL at Nik again....
*ahem* i was in the middle of a damn good rant last night about how f****g useless the Post Office are and how they apparently now not only don\'t bother delivering anything at any time when you might actually be in to collect it, but now don\'t even bother putting a card through the door letting you know that they couldn\'t be arsed to deliver it...when the missus said "oh, that reminds me, there was one of those cards through the door the other day just before we went away. I put it by the computer so you\'d see it"
*coughs and shuffles feet* so... not only was it was waiting down at the Post Office the last nine days, the card was right under my nose the whole time :o. I am actually a f***wit, feel free to laugh at me now :D. Wasted a damn good rant, too :Giggle
Anyway, thanks for the quick delivery, Alex, and it\'s all good, top condition and that. Cheers dude :Thumbs-up

how to bonnet pins lol find a stable place in the engine bay for the pin to go then mount the pin sticking up slowly close the bonnet to the point where the pin hits and make a mark . then drill a small hole from under the bonnet through the top .then add you fluch mount templates with the cross hares lined up to the holes (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y10/ascaudio/Photo006-1.jpg) repeat the job both sides (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y10/ascaudio/Photo007-2.jpg) then comes the scary bit with your template in position cut through the carbon (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y10/ascaudio/Photo008-2.jpg) then check for size and cut under the bonnet to get to the bolts for tightening up. personally i changed the black bolts for stainless because they go rusty in days and look pants check again for fittment (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y10/ascaudio/Photo010-1.jpg) (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y10/ascaudio/Photo009-2.jpg) bolt in jobs a good un (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y10/ascaudio/Photo011-1.jpg)

Are those 8.5j et30 GTR\'s?
Don\'t want to sound negative but you\'ve made a seriously bad choice with the wheel fitment here dude - they are totally, totally lost in the arches. They\'d look hidden in a stock body, let alone a wide body!

looks good but the wing mirrors dont look quite right , I think its the mounting on the wing to the mirror stalk which looks weird, you need the proper RE Front wing mirrors to make it look cool

thanks but im happy with the offset and wheel style. i looked at the deeper 9.5s with a lower offset like a 12 or 15 but i think they would have looked stretched like the dub look and not what i wanted to be honest . they have an offset of 25 im getting spacers to bring the rear out but happy that the alloy face is flat not curved in .but all imput appreciated im happy with it

Sorry dude, I just don\'t get it - what is the point in going widebody if you are just going to fit narrow ish wheels that would have fitted the stock body without any work?
You could have put some awesome wheels on there, without using stetch tyres - it just seems totally illogical - Spacing out 8.5j\'s on a widebody with big spacers will make it look liek a pram :(

Looking good Alex... Kinda agree with the boys about the weak wheels, shame if you bought them new- the price would\'ve plummeted! But if you\'ve got them for a good price of someone who has already taken the hit on weak offset depreciation then fair play :Thumbs-up.

Yes matey, that looks very \'JDM\' ;D
About the wheels, I have a set of 9.5 x 18 [et 12(or 15?)] Rota GTR\'s on my standard-ish FD and even after rolling and literally pulling the front arches out with mole grips they are still a bit too big so i\'m looking to get/swap for two thinner wheels to put on the front. Just had two Pirelli p-zero nero tyres fitted a few hundred miles agos so loaads of tread. I\'m currently working at AtomicRex in Melksham so not far from you either. Let me know if your interested, my mob: 07976 017773 ta
P.s. Awesome car!!! come pay us a visit some time :D

+1 - get a gel one if you can, and anchor it properly - but I think you said that\'s on it\'s way anyways :)
However - the rear strut brace is NOT a harness bar!!! Sort it out! That\'s just plain dangerous!
Sory to hear about your mapping issues, onwards and upwards :)

Not wanting to undermine you if you selling these but either you have it wrong or are confused and so i dont look stupid i\'ve just checked,:confused:h4 is the standard fit in the standard pop ups and is the one with two elements and h3 is one element only-i have both, a set of knightsports twin pop-ups with seperate h3 bulbs in each and a set of RE-Amemya flush lights fitted with again the same seperate h3 bulbs both of which use the same ipf lights,:cool
have you used two h3 hid kits on your twin headlights? How much are you doing them for?as i would like some for my RE-Amemya lights, email is robmatthews81@yahoo.co.uk cheers :Thumbs-up

well ill re-open this had a call from carl sunday afternoon about the engine sounded rough at pod went to see him this morning. limped the car down to haywards . had a compression test which was the telling sign .
so.. work started its now sat in haywards with a tip at the rear broke it managed to get out the exhaust port back into the front housing and jump around a little ..
cant believe how fast the work started from about 9 till 1 ish we\'d had three engines out of cars completely disconected and 1 stripped to housings and shafts . mind boggling i know .. i need to be on the boat for the holland show thursday night .
boys are being put to the test completely but i have every faith in them that it will get done and better than ever .
so keep em peeled for a little more from this one on going pics and will we make the dead line .......................

Quote from: mike_106gti;659269hey batman where did you get your petrol cap from and how easy was it to do?
the petrol cap was bought from merlin motor sport in chippenham about £60 .u need proper fuel hose as 99 ron petrol is very corrosive to normal rubber . that was the esxpensive it there about 40 quid a bend for the good stuff
you need two 90 degres bends a bit of straight and to jubliee clips not hard to do just time consuming to get right . sorting the breather took longer to get right other wise every time you corner it spat out fuel . i cut the bits myself with a dremmel not too hard . but used the standard neck off the fd for the breather add on then some welding and it works. i wouldnt bother unless you have a wide kit going on it took ages to get right and quiet exspensive mod . i only did it because the add on for the feed fuel flap with the wide arches looked gash

Dude, those rears will tuck easily with a reasonable size tyre! Put the 10 et0\'s back on right now! As the wheel moves through it\'s travel it tucks on. If you\'ve properly done the rear arches you should have no iddues at all. I run 9.5 et10 on a stock body with just a tight roll on the rear arches! Stick some 255\'s on, and put it on the ground. depending on how much wider those rears are, you can probably go wider.

wheels are some gorgeous rota grids in bronze love them soo sooo much
sih i have a 20 mm spacer on the rear so when the 9.5s go on its et 0 or do i go 10s on the back with et 15 without the spacer ? cant decide im putting 225 tyres on going for some stretch:Laugh
Title: work started at 18:18
Post by: SiH on July 25, 2010, 02:57:47 PM
If you\'re putting 225\'s on then 10 et15\'\'s at the back with the spacer. :) Don\'t go for stretch if you don\'t need it - I can\'t remember how much wider those rear arches are, but I think it\'ll sit reasonably flush with a -5.

Ya stretch when you don\'t need it looks like ass, you should be able to get away with a 245, possibly even 255 with the spacer, 275 without :Giggle

surely the only reason you go wide body is so you can easily fit wider tyres or go wider track, by putting skinny tyres on it your completely ignoring the point of going for a widerbody......surely you went to all that effort to make your car handle better aswell as looks? as currently your gonna make your car handle worse
Title: work started at 18:18
Post by: batman on August 10, 2010, 10:23:34 PM
the wider rims just add a better appearence to the look. the stretch tyre allows me to keep the rim width without taking chunks out of the wings or driving a car so high i get vertigo . the foot print of tyre on the road hasnt changed toaster so i dont see how that would spoil the set up and it handles fine >:)
Title: work started at 18:18
Post by: turbotoaster on August 10, 2010, 10:27:39 PM
but above you have said your adding spaces to push the wheels past the outer edge of the arches, if you didnt run the spacers you would be able to get much more tire on the car and in turn increase the lateral grip.
But like you say, your happy with it, maybe because i look at performance over looks is the reason i dont get it

Why would you want to have wide rims with stretched tyres?? The tyre doesnt fit correct and you have just added un-sprung weight by having wheels that are too wide.
The reason you have wide wheels is to have wider tyres. Its not a VW or Citroen going for the Euro look.

You either get fitment or you don\'t. Neither side of the argument will ever lagree with the other, and both will present crap arguments either way.
At the end of the day, it\'s predominantly about style - whether or not you like that or not is up to you. If you don\'t get it, you don\'t get it. Simple as.

yup good point toast but the way i see it is its the weight difference between an 8.5 j wheel and a ten isnt really that much and the tyre foot print being an extra few centimeters i wont notice im not a profesional track racer so unsprung weight isnt that important in the equation nor do i notice more grip running a fatter tyre .i doubt any one would notice that its not like we all drive to the limit to work or to the shops every time every day ! i drift the car with friends and show it at meets if track, weight and power were that important then the car wouldnt be as it is . its kinda at a happy medium and i like it there looks good goes good gets noticed . if anything the car trams a little more but i like that feel. dull steering bores me . id love to build an all out power monster that handled perfect but even in this i get carried away and id just end up on the news . i also like track events but i want to drive the car as much as poss and the way the roads are in england you cant have a perfect set up for long without hitting that first hole and then ya geometry is out . and as sih said there are arguments for both i could lose the spacers and run a fat tyre but then id maybe get more grip but the drive would be softer larger tyres mean bigger side walls increasing boatyness in the bends ( not saying guys with fat tyres drive ocean liners before the band strikes up ) just not my thing . heres one for nik i like the ride stiff preffer the wider rims and like the way it sits . the intention wasnt euro just thought it would be a good look :Thumbs-up

time for a thread revival as i havent been here much so recently i decided to sort a niggle a small problem with my indicators working and then not ! rather frustrating i might add any ways so the hunt began (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y10/ascaudio/IMG_1005.jpg) (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y10/ascaudio/IMG_1003.jpg)
after alot of time and testing it turned out to be a dodgy solder on a relay so while i had it out i decided to bin off the second binacle and get the dash glove box and lower gear stick trim flocked . (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y10/ascaudio/IMG_1056.jpg) (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y10/ascaudio/IMG_1062.jpg) (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y10/ascaudio/IMG_1066.jpg) (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y10/ascaudio/IMG_1068.jpg) (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y10/ascaudio/IMG_1070.jpg)
also had the old turbo removed and a nice little garret gt35 fitted from haywards recently had the car to a dyno day and on low map managed 359 bhp so not bad for a start .
have got a big meet coming up next weekend in wales and been asked to bring the car as two more mags want to feature it and sky want to film it so bit of a result
also testing out a new drift hd cam the misses got me works rather well lol
