I have just converted my FD to a single turbo. I havent plumbed the waste gate into the exhaust. When i get on full boost the noise is frightening! I have a 3" straight through exhaust which is loud enough itself but \'the flutter of the wastegate\' as some call it is enough shatter the ear drums of the deafest person!
I am looking to plumb it into the exhaust when i get a couple of hours, i was just wondering what you boyz with your singles did to quieten them down. I have a feeling plumbing it into the exhaust wont make that much difference.
If i was clever like scooby si, i would be able to add a smily with his fingers in his ears but i cant so i will just use this one:cool
You should here it through my vented bonnet, its louder than the exhaust:D
its not fair i want a single:mad:
rik:cool
I love mine......it is louddddd:D :D
get mine back on saturday all set up and ready to go! Can\'t wait to hear the wastegate! :)
Plumbing it into the downpipe will make it much more quiet, most of the pre fabricated single turbo downpipes have provision for this.
Regards
Max
Mine isnt a kit, its all home made and fitted including the streetport and rebuild, its not a problem to plum it in, i thought i would leave it cos some people say they like it but its a bit much for me.
I have most of the centre of my bonet missing so i dont think that helps! It stay nice and cold though:D
What turbo did you go with?
i went for a large to4e.. 1.10 ar on the exhaust and 0.60 on the compressor. only because it was cheap, i did mine on a budget, i got the turbo new from the states, it cost me 200 GBP to my door. I would like a GT 35/40 but they are about a grand and the thought of replacing it when my engine dies doesnt appeal.
Bloody wimp :D , its a brilliant noise, for those who have heard my black will know - its LOUD when its straight to atmosphere.
