Title: Fuel advice needed please
Post by: Shark on December 09, 2008, 11:48:53 AM
My FD has not been out since mid summer - about July to be honest and the fuel has gone off.  off to the extent of knock above 60 at 3000 rpm standing still.

there is about a half tank of fuel in there, do I need to drain this and if so - can someone tell me how?

alternatively - do you think it would work to pour a few jars of octane booster in there?

thanks in advance

Gregor

If you fill up with decent stuff then add some octane booster you should be able to get half decent fuel throughout.

Octane booster is often snake oil - if you are worried then for the sake of half a tank, drain it and stick it in a daily. Although if you have access to Toleune(sp?)...
There\'s a drain plug at the back of the tank in the middle. May be covered in grub and tight, but it\'s there, and it will undo eventually :)

Access to Touleune!!!!!!

It would be good for a laugh.  It is the last T in TNT!  The others being Tri and Nitro!

think I\'ll drain it then when I\'m next ready to go out.

unfortunately my daily is a diesel so any ideas on disposal?

...take it back for a refund?

"i bought this petrol and it had no use by date on it, but it still went off"

seriosuly though, you could always keep it for two-stroke or cleaning things?
