Title: Which rear light style??
Post by: Jono FD3 on December 08, 2008, 11:20:45 AM
I was going to just do them & suprise you guys, but the thing is I\'ve done a few ideas & I just cant deside on what to go for now :2Confused

Can you take a look at the following & let me know what you guys think......

If a mod could turn this in to a poll that would make things easyer at the end of the day ;)

Anyway, here are the images:

Option 1: Similar to pre 1999 RX7 lights, but in LED\'s
(http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d192/jonathandudley/REX/lights1.jpg)

Option 2: 1999 on lights in LED
(http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d192/jonathandudley/REX/rexrearlights3.jpg)

Option 3: Lambo style lights with brake running across the top
(http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d192/jonathandudley/REX/rexrearlights2.jpg)

Option 4: Lambo style with brake all the way around
(http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d192/jonathandudley/REX/rexrearlights1.jpg)

Cheers for the input guys,

Jono

My 2p\'s worth; firstly, amazing work on any account, you got mad skills dude! :yes

Secondly, options 3 and 4 look proper silly, even on a Lambo imho. People would think they were following Blackpool around at night :Nono!

Option 1 looks awesome, option 2 looks even more awsomer! Option 2 FTW! :Thumbs-up

It\'s all photo shop mate... not done anything with LED\'s yet ;)
Op 2 or 3 I was looking at, but just can\'t make up my mind!!

Option 2!!!

If i was to vote in a poll i\'d say option 2 as well. Is just a more up to date version of the 99 spec ones that look great anyway.
Option 3 would be cool and if you made the brake light go down to the bottom right corner i think that would look even better.
The only thing i woukld say is that the Lambo idea is going to be copied to death by all the saxo boys in no time :(

Title: Option 2
Post by: leerx7uk on December 08, 2008, 01:36:42 PM
Defo option 2 they look awesome, others look a bit tacky..in my vie any way as option 2 looks still a little stock but with a difference...Lee

Could you not do option 2 in the shape of a rotor? Would look great and give rotor heads a buzz while those \'not\' in the know would just think they look funny shaped

I\'d definitely want a set if they make my car do this;

99spec have been done to death, and sorry but rotor shaped brakelights actually DO look ****e as i\'ve seen 2 sets now. I think i would go with option 4, but without the wipeout2097 style stars. I would have the leds going all round the edge as the main light, and fill in the black middle bit with 70/30 vertical split brake & turn signal

i vote for option two....just a big fan of round lights tbh

What about option 3, but have the LEDs do a two stage light intensity so that they double as the brake light aswell....no idea its possible but would look nice and clean.

That is awsome, natually I\'m going to disagree with Nik & vote for 3 & 4, I\'m sucker for the arrows pointing in the direction you\'re turning :Giggle.

I don\'t like any of them to be honest. BUT if you\'re going down this route then I guess

But stock 99 spec FTW :cool

Option 2.

I dont think the photoshops show how good they would look in real life. Led lights are quality if done right. Good luck!

That could look good mate. :Thumbs-up
There\'s a lot to it though and my only concern is that the middle section would need updating to or it\'ll look totally out of place along side these.
Just my 2p worth :)

Nice ideas @ Jono
i made some photoshops, too..

If I could get a set of old pre 99spec lights, I would give my own idea a try.

Please don´t copy ;-)

going to be doing the centre section out in LED\'s aswell.... full width so it would look like a solid brake light from one side to the other ;)

That oughta burn out a few retinas :Giggle

I still think just sticking with the three round lights cant be bettered as a design, though, dude. People will see all these funny shapes at night and be confused, and just think its normal lights with blown bulbs or something!

if you\'re doing all leds, you could wire in a matrix programmer and send scrolling messages to other cars too.............!!! :-)

That is something i thought about doing back in the summer, but is a hell of a lot of work to make work, not in designing but the making of it all up to work
