Been porting my intakes today. Was quite happy with this one until I realised I\'d gone too close to the water seal :(
I\'ve read that 12mm is the closest you can go before risking the apex seal falling out, my port is 10mm away. Anyone used them this close?

Anyhow luckily it was the one plate I had a spare of so I did it again along with the other secondary port but couldn\'t get any decent photos due to the light levels.
I\'ve opened the secondary port earlier by about 5 degress and closed later by about the same. I was tempted to try a bridge port but I don\'t think its necessary for what I want and I want to keep a good midrange. Here\'s a photo when I started cutting the second one

I\'ve started on the primaries. I\'ll do a proper thread once I\'ve progressed a bit more.
I\'ve measured up and templated the opening and closing on my old engine big street ports, a breaker with standard ports, and another breaker with pineapple racing templated ports. Then made my own templates. The timing is very similar to the pineapple racing ones but I\'ve opened up the runners quite a bit more to match my manifold from my old car.
The secondaries are opening at about 20 degrees ATDC and closing at about 60 degrees ABDC. I measured standard as opening at 30 ATDC, close 54 ABDC. My measurements are done as the rotor passes the port and don\'t match the workshop manual ones which are 32 and 50, not sure why but perhaps they measure on the side seal or something?
I\'m not decided on the primaries yet. I may just open them a little bit in the hope of helping low down power, but thats just an idea so don\'t know if it would work in practice.
Any comments very welcome as I\'ve never really got inside an engine before
Don\'t understand enough about porting to offer an informed opinion, but have to say I admire your cohones for just breaking out the Dremel and cracking on :god. Fair play to yer! :yes Hope it all works out
What manifold did you have on the yellow one - was it an RE jobby ?
Nice work Dave :)
Yes Prof an RE manifold. I\'ve opened the runners up to the same point as the secondaries on my old plates so they should match the manifold which I\'ve not actually got here at the moment.
Can you not engineer blue up the side seal and see if it falls in the hole at all ?
Shaun
DIY \'Blue Printing\' :)
It holds it ok, I\'m just worried when everything is moving fast as its probably very borderline?
