Title: Would it be worth it?
Post by: m1tch on December 07, 2008, 09:54:40 AM
Hey guys, im a bit stuck on what I should do about this, I just happen to know somewhere where I can pick up a 13B engine thats come out of a working car for not a lot (there is both a NA 13B and a TII engine)

The problem is that it has been standing there for a while, its all undercover and protected though.

Would it be worth me getting it and then taking it to a rebuild specilist and getting it ported and rebuilt? As far as I know both the engines have come out of working cars, so technically they might actually still work lol

I know for a fact that 1 is an NA engine (even though I had no clue what a 13B was when I saw them) as its got 13B Injection on the top lol The other engine im pretty sure would be from a TII but it was a while ago, I need to know what the difference in appearance between an FD and and FC 13b is.

How much would a 13B in unknown condition be worth do you recon? Im thinking of getting it, rebuilding it and then when my current engine pops (might not for a while) I can swap the engines and sell the blown engine to someone else who wants to do the same lol

can anyone help? :)

the uim is diff and the elbow / compressor at the end of the uim.
tho u can put fd uim onto fc 13bt

im not sure how much u can get them for but theres some ppl breaking their fc\'s might be worth just getting their block already ported??

Its just the short block, nothing attached to it, as this is a weekend car for fun/drag racing it will be heavily ported, either very large streetport or 1/2 bridge so further porting would be needed from anyone elses car

i think a rebuilt engine with warrenty costs £2000, without the warrenty £1000-£1500 , a blown engine is worth £200ish, so i\'d hazard a guess its worth £500 with a patchy past

but if you were going to rebuild it, its pretty much gonna be treated as a blowen engine, so offer £200 and work up from there.

hope that makes sense:Thumbsup!

Well a rebuild on an FC costs £3k due to there being less to take out the car, most of it is labour as the engine has to be taken out of the car, this will be just a lump of engine lol so would be less, im guessing about £500 for seals, probably about £400 for porting so it may be less :)
