Jumped in my car this evening at work to go home, and the ignition key snapped as I was putting it in. I managed to pick up the snapped part and get a replacement key cut, but it doesn\'t quite work. Fortunately it was good enough to lock the car (Or should I say, the door locks are shabby enough to accept a dodgy key!), but I couldn\'t move the car.
So tomorrow I am going to have to try and \'hot wire\' it by taking the electrical plug off the back of the barrel and starting it. So, I am wondering if anyone knows what the wires are - if I remember correctly there\'s only 4 wires so shouldn\'t be too difficult. One will be earth, two will be ignition 1 and 2, and the other will be the starter motor ignition position. I know this sort of thing is possible, as I did the same thing with my last car a vauxhall calibra. If anyone does know, probably best to pm or email me (nikp75@googlemail.com) as we don\'t want this sort of thing in the public eye!
Please, someone save me! Also, if anyone has an entire lock set (My second this year!), please let me know.
mate, your not having much luck are you :(
how well did the broken key fit back together?? It might be the key cutting fella didn\'t push it together properly ???

That\'s almost certainly the case. I will take it back tomorrow and see if they can improve on it. In the mean time, i want to try and start it!

if you hot wire it dont try and drive it or the stearing wheel lock will come on, on first bend :Giggle
im sure theres a number on the barrel on the drivers side door lock...if u give them this number they should be able to cut u a perfect key..the handle comes off very easily, just being held in by 2 nuts...i may be thinking of another car but have a look.....
