Title: uber negative camber on coilovers
Post by: L18M on December 05, 2008, 11:53:11 AM
has anyone had more negative camber than should be once they have dropped their fc onto coilovers?
if so how have you over come this?

my fc are on JIC coilovers and you can see the rear wheel had lots of negative camber.
thinking need to get rear camber tie\'s, anyone know where i can find if need be?

cheers

I think as soon as u lower a car this happens, its why you would have 2 sort the tracking and alignment out as soon as you lower it, else it will just eat 1 side of the tyres

I don\'t know the FC suspension but you often get too much neg camber when you lower cars. Nissans need upper camber arms because you don\'t have enough adjustablility with the standard arms to get rid of it.

Haha! too much neg camber on the rear wheels means bugger all grip for drifting. I only run -1 ish neg on the rear of the drift cars, as do most people that have control of it. People run quite a lot on the front though usually more than 2.5 degrees neg. Not sure what mine is at the moment but it looks about -3.

How far in or out the wheels are at the top/bottom. Negative camber is when the wheels are in at the top and out at the bottome. Usually happens when cars are lowered lots, so you need adjustable arms to get control of it to what you want.

look on ebay for camber adjusters, USA Ebay have them. I used them and it helped but you do get a lot on the FC,  There are 2 types for the FC, one is easy to fit and adjust but doent give you much adjustment and does both at the same time so they are individually adjustable.

The other types has one fitted each side by the hub but i havent used these.  You may also have worn pushes and DTSS eliminators which wont help.

Polybushing and removing the DTSS transforms an FC once you have the geomitry done. None of its cheap if you cant do it yourself though.

:omy fc looks worst than should be. many have commented on how much neg camber there is.
the fc\'s stock arms are nt adjustable.
i saw some adjustable arms from oz a while back but didnt think i needed them but now my car is gonna get a bit more kick i thought it might be a gd idea to get some normal grip out of the rear.
my last set of tyres on the rear were all worn on the inside but looked new on the outside. hence i think i may have a \'slight\' neg camber issue

thanks :Thumbsup!
nice link tho i got a bit lost to how the rear camber adjusting works :xconfused
the ones i seen b4 are like rods that go from subframe to each wheel and can be adjusted.

anyone got ideas how good either the rear camber adjusting or the adjustable camber links work?

only work if you buy rose joints bushing for the rear and adjusting rear drop  links to make more neg camber.

if go for rear camber adjusting bar,it\'s only work with normal rubber cos the rubber\'s soft and easier to push and pull.
none of these that\'s I got!!
only rose joints rear and drop links from homemade by myself.
it\'s too hash for road, bump and banging and it\'s not worth the money spending!

rear camber links install

http://www.mazdatrix.com/instructions/camblinkinstall.htm

By pulling up or pushing down on the rear subframe where the original equipment vertical link is located, negative camber can be reduced or increased

dont mean to jack your thread. i know on the mazdatrix website they speak alittle bit about how these links effect the camber. the single adjusts both wheels but is limited where as the 2 adjustable links are not as limited and can adjust each wheel.

i loaded the few pics up to photobucket from my supernow collection. i did not take these myself, got them from their website

It looks like all you would need would be the purple things.. and depending on how tight they are depends on the angle the wheels would sit at... but you know it wont be that simple.. nothing ever is.. :(

the first time i saw those "purple things" was on the supernow website.  before that, the way i knew how to take neg camber out was with either the (single) rear camber adjuster or with the (2) rear camber links.  i never thought of emailing or trying to get ahold of supernow to see if they do sell those links you speak of.

Looking at those bits mate, it looks like the single middle vertical arm does the camber by moving the subframe up and down. The black replacement bit is an alternative that looks like it give you more adjustabily and you can adjust whilst its on the car as well.
The two purple arms that go out to the hubs are lateral arms that adjust the toe in/out of the rear wheels.
You\'d probably be better off getting both the lateral arms and the camber arm thing because they work together. If you get just one of the items you may not be able to setup the suspension to its best alignement ie you may find if you just get the camber adjuster that you havn\'t got enough adjustability and you\'ll end up with bumpsteer. This is when the toe of the wheels changes as the suspension goes up and down. Buying adjustable lateral (toe) arms means you can sort this out.
