Title: Showing off my new splitter
Post by: Jimi_Hendrix on December 01, 2008, 04:31:16 PM
I bought this splitter from Adereed a little while ago and i\'ve now managed to spray it and fix her on there. Looks fairly swish! Finishes off the front end sooooo much nicer!

Wow. What a difference a week makes! Nice one fella. Stella job by myself even if I do say so myself! Looks even better in black. Now that\'s a seriously nice looking example of an FC TII.

Did you have any probs fitting it then or was it straight forward?

It just bolted right up no problem at all! One quick trip to halfords and a few tins of "Peugout black" and clear laqure later there she was, from red to black!

Very impresed with it man, you did a s*it hot job fixin\' her up!:D I\'ll bet i could ram raid the hoover dam and the splitter wouldn\'t have a scratch! Lol!

Now I might have to have a go at the other one I\'ve got. Might not be too hard to do even if its in 2 bits!

Wooo looking good :D I have mine in primer in the garage, I have also fibreglassed the whole of the inside so that it has extra strenght, the original 1 is still partly there, well the bits of splitter that weren\'t taken out on a speedbump before I got it anyhow lol so I have strenghtened mine so it doen\'t smash up so easy! It does look fab though! nice work :D

How does it look from the side James? I would imagine the front now looks lower than the rest of the car no? Are body kits quite easy to get for an FC? I think id quite like something like this on mine now..

the lower splitters a must on any fc! they improve the look of the front bumper massivly, for such a small ad on, all in my opinion of course :)

\'stock\' front are getting hard to find and they break easy as they old n quite low esp if you lowered ur rex. i\'ve broken mine already!! =( but will try n fix.

if u want side skirts then i think ptaylor on here has some left otherwise if u want to try and repair a broken one then benlewismay has some unless he scrapped them.

aftermarket kits like gp sport (check out ptaylors) can get from replikit.
else import from usa, lots there. =)

How easy are the body kits to put on? do they tend to just cover the original body or do you need to take things off the car? If Pete sees this could you let me know what you have left dude?

Thanks guys! :)

the front is just held on by a few screws and also the side skirts are just a few screws on the underside then part of it clips into the side of the car nr the wings and a couple of holds need to be drilled but easy job.

That is a very very nice kit. Exactly what i am looking for.. nothing too extreme but brings the car down a bit.

Is that the style Pete is selling?

Retro, the car kind of goes in stages now from front to back. What i mean is the front bumper is about an inch or so lower than the base of the side skirts and they are in turn about an inch or so lower than the begining of the rear bumper which of course tapers up as it goes back. Like a jumbo jet. Lol. But you knew all that already. What i\'m saying is the side profile all makes sence and looks as it ought to.

Anyway i think the front splitter looks superb and worth every penny! It\'s amazing what a little change can amount to.

GP sports body kit just looks the muts nuts though! Sooooo mean!:D And with the wide arches on it!? Hoh!:yes

ah retro, just had a look at my car, egi, which has a front splitter, its egi one, not as nice as those TII ones. But anyway, it comes down about the same distance as the TII one but is pretty much inline with the rest of the car, ill try n grab a pic later. Basically the TII splitter wouldn\'t make part of the car look lower than the rest :D

I have some TII side skirts Gianni. And damn them doors look good gonna have to knock a dent out of the passenger side one and get them on my daily runner.

You guys post your pictures to mock my N/A don\'t you? haha.. AND to make me jealous about not having a kit on it..

Ade - The guys can\'t paint the spoiler white.. :( . So i\'m going to have to try someone else which puts it on hold for a few weeks/months.. Hopefully they are dropping it back off at me tonight.. I should put it on while its red so i can look super cool! haha..

I WANT A BODY KIT!!

Why can\'t they paint it? Its been resprayed before so shouldn\'t be a problem. A good undercoat should sort the difference in colour out I would think.

I honestly have no idea.. they explained to me though.. i think it was something about it bubbling because it was spongey.. I\'ve got a mate who is going to try.. failing that its out with the spray cans!

If you do it remember to key the paint on the spoiler first so the new paint will stick to it.

The spoiler is spongey.. if you squeeze it its soft and spongey.. spongey is a good word. I\'m just going to get tipex and do it.. i\'ll be driving so fast you wont see the dodgeyness of it.

i thought most spoilers got like a hard layer over the spongy bit. some monkeys bit my spoiler on my old bmw n it was spnge inside n hard layer outside.. bit like an armadillo =p

Its spongey but only slightley, you really have to push your finger into it to get any give. Good luck with getting it done anyway G!:chat
