Title: Issues after new Rebuild please help
Post by: captainlovepony on November 30, 2008, 07:45:00 PM
Hi everyone,
I would really be happy with your knowledge.
I have recently had my late Rx7 which is completely standard Rebuilt at a engine builder but i have concerns.
1, The engine now hunts which it never did before but was told this will settle on its own after some miles?
2, Smokes on start up and smell of fuel.Never did this before not so bad?
3, Juder at low speed kind of like kangeroo petrol?
4,After running and switch off engine i turn on ignition again the cooling fan comes on?
5,Had to have CAT removed as caused part of engine problems, and told should be no issues with this other than higher emissions?

Im very worried about this please can you advise me if these things are normal or not.

Thanks to you all for your help.:(

Idle need some adjustment, during the run in your compression gets better so it needs setting up again possibly.

Smoke on start up is normal fresh rebuilds are worse should clear up once warm
3, Juder at low speed kind of like kangeroo petrol?
At low rpm??
4,After running and switch off engine i turn on ignition again the cooling fan comes on?
Sounds normal to me
5,Had to have CAT removed as caused part of engine problems, and told should be no issues with this other than higher emissions?
No you need a aftermarket ecu incase the boost spikes.
