Hi there peeps, not really posted much on here. To be honest I tend to use the forum for reference mainly as most questions I want to ask have already been asked!!! Basically, I was wondering about vented light covers, (VLC), are these just for cosmetic purposes or do they have a set purpose/function. I have a 93 FD3s (Type RZ), and as far as I can see, the VLC would only direct air throught the light assembly and down to the oil cooler. I can\'t see much cool air getting to the air intake. Is this the idea or is it mainly for cooling of the engine as a whole? Just thought I\'d ask as I\'m really confused about this!!
Thanks for reading guys, great site!!
Can\'t believe that noone on here can give me an answer!! Surely at least one of you knowledgeable people can help me out???
using my limited knowledge I would say it depends on your set up. Probably more useful with a single where you could direct cold air straight to the turbo through a pipe. But others could tell you more.
The C-west one i had on mine was practically blank behind.
I\'d be surprised if many of them were anything other than (imho) styling tat tbh.
with a bit of imaginitive flexi-duct and dremelling you could probably get air into the side of the air box. the only way it would be really beneficial is if you can get a sealed route from the cool air brought in through the duct to the turbos.
Cheers for the input guys, gonna have a look and see if there is another, cheaper way of getting air to the intake then. Can\'t afford a vented bonnet atm so may have to go down the inventive ducting and Dremmel route!! I may see if I can get some kind of ducting from the resonance chamber to the intakes, probably be better and easier than trying to fit any ducting behind/underneath a vented light cover!! Will have to have a look see!
