Title: RX8 issues......!
Post by: jonny on November 15, 2008, 09:25:50 PM
With my long term FD3S project nowhere near roadworthy and safely tucked up in the barn for winter i\'ve turned my attentions to a \'53 plate RX8! :driving

However i have a few issues i need some help with, the first is a \'creaking\' noise from the O/S/R wheel area when braking and coming to a stop. I\'ve had it in the air and it doesn\'t actually appear brake related? The wheel turns freely but the noise is apparent and maybe from the wheel bearing area? Has anyone had similar problems?

The second is \'resistive\' power steering? Every now and then the steering seems to get really heavy, as if its low on power steering fluid but i believe these are electric and not hydraulic? I connected it to a generic code reader and no faults were found, has anyone had any problems with speed or angle sensors or anything else?.....

Other than that i\'m really happy with it, well apart from the broken anti roll bar link and the rate i\'m going thru brake pads....:2Confused

THe power steering is always hydraulic its just the pumps that are electric motor driven as apposed to being driven by engine (belt).
P.S. i didn\'t now RX8 was electric.

I only assumed the whole thing was electric as the motor appears to be built into the rack and couldn\'t find a resevoir?
