Title: Crazy weather so took some pics
Post by: neil_jdmr on November 11, 2008, 01:10:21 PM
Was down the tyneside coast this morning (not far from your house rob:chat)
and the weather was crazy lovely bright sunshine one minute then chucking it down the next , all the while blowing a bleeding gale.

Anyhoo i decided it was a good a time as any to get some last pics in before i put my winter wheels on.

Looking good there fella. I know that area quite well. It\'s always fun to rumble along at night when all the corsa/saxo boys are drooling over their french skips, just to see their little hairless faces look round in confusion as the havent a clue as to what i\'m driving. Then they try and chase you, oh how i laugh!

That is St Mary\'s/Whitley Bay isn\'t it?

Sniff... you\'re making me homesick. When I was growing up, we used to spend most weekends at the beach (irrespective of the weather :) )

I\'m tempted to take the Rex "for a spin to the coast"... six hours later :3gears-rh

Saying that though have always wanted to live on the coast but when the bad weather comes it hits the coastal towns worse !!!

Good thing with Derby is its quite high up at the foot of the pennines so dont get too much flooding issues, apart from the south link up to the A38 / A50 / M1 motorways :mmmm

Nice car, sits really well on the wheels and the alloys are very tasty!

Dont mean to hijack the thread but Grant mentioned youre on 9.5 all round. Got me thinking. Is it possible to go 9.5 wide at the front too? Ive currently got some mania vortex 18s that are 8 all round and dont look right to me. Ive got the option of going to 19s for 8.5 front and 9.5 rear. Should I go 9.5 all round or is this crazy, especially on 19s?

I dont really want to go bigger as they rubbish to drive its the only options on this style of wheel(which i love).

That\'s very reassuring! I live about 300 yards from the sea, and our house is at just about the lowest point in Worthing!

Excellent photos, there, chap, very, very white car! You must be a valeters\' best friend :Giggle

You might struggle at the front, as I\'m also on the mania vortex 18" - and when i tried to go to a slightly wider tyre (235/40/18 iirc) I couldn\'t turn lock-to-lock - the wheels were clipping inside the arch or something (I was turnin the wheel while the tyre shop was checking fitting), so ended up staying with a stretched 225 :/

That said, it was a cheep tyre rpelacement place on the motorway, and I have no idea if the offsets etc for my wheels are correct - with the right offsets it *might* be doable...

be interested to hear if anyone has done it... (cos maybe I could get a better fitting tyre - i don\'t like the stretched look meself)

mate i would not go for 19\'s,.. 18\'s is pushing it and 19\'s are over kill! Neil’s wheels are only 17" x 9.5 front and rear with +35ET (i think)

and i am running 17"x9.5 front and rear with +12ET and don’t rub! but i have had my inner arch protectors pushed back

Cheers for the comment guys,

Yeah as Steven (envyD) said my wheels are only 17" x 9.5 with a 30 offset, although they dont rub. but with 18/19" wheels im sure it will rub a fair bit.

EnvyD and Neil, thanks for the advice. You guys are right in saying 19s would kill the car.

Guess I need to find a style of wheel I like that comes with 9-9.5 at the front in 18, as well as do some serious arch rolling!

Cheers
