Right, i managed to jack up the RX7 at the front yesterday with no problems.. but wasn\'t 100% sure i was jacking it at the right bit.. so tonight i went out to do the back caliper and i put the jack on what seems to be a lip that seems to run along side the car.. I had the axle stands at the same lip but up the front of the car and had no problems.. but unfortunately while jacking it up the bar just bent so i quickly took it down and off the jack.. I\'ve had a look right under the car and there honestly doesn\'t seem like anywhere to properly Jack it that doesn\'t look like it will go right through the bottom of the car..
If you ever want to see the age of your car then look underneath.. i really hate to say it but the back end of the car looks like it could just crumble away.. :(
Can you tell me where to Jack it exactly???
Jack under the diff - you might want to use a small block of wood if you don\'t have a nice rubber pad on the jack.
Then when it\'s up in the air - I normally put the axle stands on the rear subframe mounts - unless that\'s what your changing.
haha.. thanks man. I have no idea what any of those things are.. I think i\'m going to need someone to take some pictures.. :(
theres some decent pics in the haynes manual of underneath the car. Mines back down south so i cant photo copy a page of it. maybe someone else will tho then draw arrows on to show you where you can jack it?
If they could that would be greatly appreciated. :)
Try jacking under the diff (red arrow) and then use axle stands where the blue arrows are. You should be ok with them there, Unless someone has better experience than me.
Oh and here is a link to an online factory service manual.

If you have a trolley jack you can also use the towing eyes, On lowered cars its the only way on the rears, but always use an axle stand, especially for the job you are doing.
As the Service manual has been linked to you I would seriously suggest finding the time to read it, especially for the basic stuff, we dont want anyone finding out stuff the hard way that could not only damage themselves but their car.
Oh ****.. if that is where you are supposed to lift it then i\'m a total idiot.. Lifting it where the blue arrows seems quite scary though.. if all the weight is leaning on that bar then surely it will just bend?.. I think i need someone to come to my home and do this now.. haha
Those large round mountings where the blue arrows are actually mount to the subframe of the car - it\'s pretty much the most solid place at the back.
Yeah just go steady when lifting and lowering the car, think about everything your doing before you do it. And please check that the car is secure before you go underneath it. It\'s one thing to damage your FC but to damage yourself is another thing all together.
if im jacking the back all i do is
1 - place bricks infront of the front wheels
2 - get trolley jack with a peice of wood
3 - slide jack inbetween the middle of the rear of the car - from the back
4 - stick head under and slowly push the jack until its under the flat part of the diff ( you cant miss it )
5 - jack it up slowly
6 - once at full height
7 - from the side of the car - just infront of the back wheels - you will see a 4-5 inch wide beam - i place the stands under this
8 - SLOWLY lower the jack and hey presto - its up
i did the same thing that you did with the front and managed to crease the floor - and thats when i found i have no cills either - and the welding began
and yes - i think most FC\'s look bad from the underside - i would love to strip and paint mine - but its one hell of a job :(
i always jack on the rear subframe mounts totally solid there, unlike my sills:(
haha.. i\'ve sort of lost faith im my ability to lift the car now.. :( Might try again next week.
Thanks for the tips though guys!
