Title: *NOT a fitment question!* 17x9 all round on an FC TII
Post by: Jimi_Hendrix on November 10, 2008, 01:49:22 PM
Lets just assume they go on no problem.

Can a standard 200BHP \'90 Turbo II deal with 17x9 wheels all round? I guess the back would be no problem but 9 inch wide on the front axle? Is that going to sap the cars energy too much trying to turn those HUGE hoops? Lol!

I heard it can be detremental to put wheels that are toooo wide on a car.

Thanks!

All depends on what the wheels are made of - also, what profile rubber?

The wheels are Rota GTRs

No idea what they are made of, and i guess for 17\'s the profile would be 40 or 45?

I have 17x8 at the front and they are a little heavy (with no power steering!) but otherwise shouldn\'t be a problem

I run Superleggera 17x8\'s all round - there no bother with stock power levels - quite an improvement over the 16\'s to be honest.  I wouldn\'t have thought 9\'s would be too much more - but watch the clearance in the arches - if the offset isn\'t right you\'re going to scrub and lose turning circle.

GTR\'s aren\'t light. That\'s what will adversely effect the handling, more so than the width.

Plus, do you really want to look like every other car out there ;)
