HALP!
Hi guys, Been i\'ve been trying to pull my engine this weekend (lovely weather for it! *drip*) Unbolted everything as per Martiny list
http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=46981,
The engine now is held in by nothing obvious, hoisted the engine upwards then nothing no matter how much brute force and ignorance used the engine wont seperate more than an inch from the bellhousing!
I\'ve even gone as far as disengaging the clutch pilot baring, its a good 3 inch away fromt he pressure plate!
Can anyone give me suggestions on why i cant break the engine out :Thumbs-up
Cheers
Leon
i had the same problem, it was the engine mounts catching on the frame, i had to take them off the motor.
Wow thanks for the fast response karl! You might be right the engine mounts are still on the bottom of the engine (I presumed they could be left on as mazda seem to leave them on in the workshop manual)
hmm... are you doing it the same way as the workshop manual??
i just removed them and it poped straight out :D
think i might have a picture of where they are catching as well, will have a look for you dude.
Cheers any help is greatly appreciated! :D i\'m doing it as per Martiny destructions but i think i caused myself extra grief by believing mazda rather than him :3
no pictures im afraid, sorry.
lol i was pulling and swearing and it just wouldnt go, would move maybe 2 inch or so and then it would start to lift the car as well with the hoist :P
Hahah! man yeah we had that too where the car developed a taste for 1 tone engine hoists :rollin
I\'m a tit! i put the bolt + nut for the starter motor back in! (as to not lose it) shows how much water got into my head on Sunday night :Giggle
took that out and the engine is now on the garage floor :mmmm
hahaha :rollin
