Title: Lowering my RX7.
Post by: Retro_Boy_G on November 08, 2008, 11:23:33 AM
Right, just looking for some info on this.. I\'m not wanting it scraping its arse along the ground.. but i want to bring it down a bit as there is quite a gap between the tyres and arches.. Can anyone recommend a good drop distance and sort of mid range springs.. i\'m looking to spend no more than £150 hopefully.. any help would be appreciated! :)

I wouldn\'t bother looking anywhere other than Eibach to be honest.

the person who sold me my car recon\'d anything above 35mm and you\'ll need to start looking into the geometry.

here are some racing beat ones.

Those are in the usa but i believe mazdarotaryparts sell racing beat products, but to ring up and ask.

or if your feeling really cheap. just cut your springs :D

These are the ones i was originally going to buy

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MAZDA-RX-7-86-92-35mm-Lowering-Springs-kit-80-1610_W0QQitemZ360075035746QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item360075035746&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1301|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318

But if i can pay a little bit more and get a lot better springs then I would. I\'m not looking to go any lower than 35mm...  30mm would be perfect.

haha and i\'m not going to cut the springs!

Best to keep it so you dont have to go and buy front mounts and the rear camber adjuster. I have to on mine but i might see if i can get the rear link made into an adjustable one, just a case of obtaining the right spec and diameters etc for the eyelets.

They look ok to me (Lifetime guarantee). Just make sure you get it all checked over if your doing the fitting yourself. Oh and make sure you take pic\'s of the process and post them up on here for everyone to see.

Cheers guys. I will just buy the Apex ones then.. Just gotta sell some Arcade goodies so fund it. I also won\'t be fitting them myself.. but whoever does it for me i will ask to take process pictures. I\'m in the process of painting my calipers.. would it be worth my while taking process pictures of that?.. I\'ve already done one.. but i can record the rest.

Thanks man. There is a section (on the left) that i didn\'t.. it looked quite important so i didn\'t want to paint over it in case it wasn\'t meant to. still looks pretty sweet though. I\'ll probably work on the rest tomorrow night after work.

You will need to get a picture up dude. What colour is your car? I\'m just wondering.. do you paint all 4 or should i leave the back?

the cars red, here\'s a pic http://img501.imageshack.us/my.php?image=photo0021ey9.jpg

well the fronts of mine are blue because they\'re off an fd, someone must have painted them when they took them off.

Id paint the rears blue too tbh, will make the car look better, not a fan of the boring grey. Tho it may make them stand out more, which isn\'t nesicarily a good thing as rears arn\'t as good looking. Tho it may look a bit odd with them not painted:S

Yeah they didn\'t look as nice when i had a look at them this morning.. ach well, i will paint them anyways. Probably going to get some white Mazda stickers for them also.. I\'m just waiting to hear back from Adereed about a TII Wing he has.. once i get that done the car will almost be done.. planning on doing some moderations to the spoiler too.. :)

Hey Rob,

You have lost me with the Dampeners and Struts.. haha.. When my civic was lowered it was just 4 springs.. what are the Dampeners and Struts for?.. I guess it depends on the price.. I have a 10% discount code for eBay which would bring the Apex ones down a bit.. Let me know dude! :)

dampers and struts arn\'t used to lower the car. There more as a suspension upgrade which might prove well with a lowered car

hope you didn\'t buy the apex spring, they are sh*t! I bought a set for my 323 V6 and was really not happy, ended up putting the orginal back on. After fitting the apex the handling went dangerous!
